ParakeetJohn
A Christian through grace
Hi ParakeetJohn,
I had a parakeet as a kid, I called him pretty boy. He learned all the bird calls from our area, various whistles. From where is cage sat he had a view of our LR and kitchen, so anytime we took a drink or was holding one, he wold go get a drink of water, when we sat down at the kitchen table to eat he would eat. I too would let him hang out on my shoulder. Then one day I came home from school and he did not greet me, so I walked over and saw that he had passed away. My mother got me another one, but that one never learned all the bird sounds and such or mimicked our actions.
Sorry to read that one of yours passed on and others are not well.
I also love your enthusiasm of ACNL and the ACNL friends you have made. I too am an older person, I have 5 grandchildren ( 13 to 7 years of age) and I began playing a little over a year ago as a means to stayed connected to them (I have health issues that pretty much keep me home bound) and ACNL has been a great game to help pass the time and meet some very nice cyber friends.
I rarely do groups game time, if I do it is only when my grand children are visiting. Too much brain stimulation brings on seizures, so I limit my activities.
Anyway, just wanted to say I have enjoyed reading your post and as someone else say you have a way with words.
Hi!
What a wonderful message, and, so sorry to hear about your original Parakeet.
My first Parakeet ever was "Tweety". He mimicked all my whistles... Even the ridiculous ones. He'd sit on my hat and went everywhere in the house that I went. If I bent over to pick something up, he'd bend over too. Tweety was a very special Parakeet, much like your Pretty Boy.
He was on my shoulder one day without my knowing... And I went outside. Tweety was gone, and a large part of my heart flew away with him (never to fully recover). It was a black dark day for sure.
Each Parakeet is special in their own way, as are my now 6 Parakeets. But none are like Tweety. He was from an entirely different mold altogether.
After Shy died in my hand, while her husband Lulu attempted to nudge and revive her... I realized that I'll eventually watch every one of these precious lives die. That realization didn't help my sorrow any, for sure.
Animal Crossings is a wonderful game. I have such a love for my Parakeets, and have suffered such great losses, that Animal Crossings seems to not only distract my unpleasant focus, but provide friends at the same time.
And the whole animal focus thing sits well with my soul.
Thank you for your wonderful message.
I know you wrote that you don't engage in group type focusses... But if you want an Animal Crossing friend, I'm here for you.
Just let me know, and I'll add you right away.
Take care... And thank you.
John
