Old School Animal Crossing Week:
Old School Homage Photo Event

August 21, 2019 - August 29, 2019

oldSchoolACWeekPhotoEvent2.png

This is the first time we're hosting an Old School AC Week and since it's so big this time, we wanted to give newer players the opportunity to participate in most events. That's why you will be able to use Animal Crossing: New Leaf in this photo event!

Each game in the Animal Crossing series has its own distinct look and has introduced its own new features. This event will help us remember the things about the older games that made them special. For this challenge, you can use any Animal Crossing game (including New Leaf) to create a scene that represents an older game in some way. This can be done by designing clothing, arranging your house, or even something outside in town.

Submission

To submit your entry, post a photo of your game that shows your old school AC homage. Include at least one sentence explaining which game it represents and how.

Rules & Guidelines

  • The scene you create should reference a game older than the one you create the scene in.
  • Happy Home Designer and Pocket Camp are allowed to be used, but the scene you create with them must be from a game before New Leaf.
  • Include an explanation of why your scene pays homage to a specific game. It should be one sentence or more.
  • The photo must be taken by you and clearly show the scene you created.
  • Submit your entry by August 29th.

Prizes

Participation: 10 Tokens

Here is a quick recreation of the Wild World opening sequence! My mayor is (roughly) dressed up as taxi-driver Kapp'n, complete with luxury vehicle and dashboard decorative boat. I also tried to emulate the cobblestone in front of town hall, and chose a train-based wallpaper to complete the "all aboard" feel. Items featured in this recreation were acquired using amiibo and bits and pieces picked up from Timmy and Tommy/Able Sister's store. :)

[Note: photo was edited using waifu2x, a program that helps smooth/enlarge 3DS screenshots!]

So for my homage picture I decided to go back and "work" for Tom Nook at Nook's Homes wearing the infamous tshirt he provides when starting Wild World working in Nook's Cranny

I remade the tshirt as a dress for this scene.

here is the qr code if anyone would like to wear the dress

For clarification, are we allowed to use Pocket Camp?

I did not think of this at first, but sure, and I'll add it to the post.

would happy home designer be fine too? :o

Yes, as long as your scene is about City Folk, Wild World, or the original game. This goes for Pocket Camp as well.

I made a scene inspired by the constellation feature from City Folk and Wild World. The scenery is also a nod to Gulliver's role as an astronaut instead of sailor, in addition to the infamous Wild World moon visiting rumours he was tied to.

My favourite event from the older games was La-Di-Day in Wild World, where villagers would sing you their original compositions in hopes of setting the town tune. I decided to host my own La-Di-Day at my pocket camp island, but this time there's an actual stage!

I tried to recreate brewster's wild world cafe in happy home designer! this was always my favourite place to hang out, it just felt so cozy and nice.

At first I was confused. But then I saw the user's posts, and I was like. Ohhhh! Ok I get it now.

wild world was my first game so here's my attempt to emulate the observatory! the observatory is one of the first things that comes to my mind for wild world cuz i used it so much when i was little. i didn't really have anything map-like so for the picture on the wall i did a custom design.

homage to serena the diva that resides in the town fountain in city folk. i kind of wish it was a theme for animal gods/goddesses to give you tool upgrades.

"I thought about doing the Island from the GameCube Animal Crossing, because it felt like the most obvious and easy thing to do for this. I even added O'Hare, Kapp'n (Except for his boat) in his GameCube outfit, and of course, my player in the Blue Aloha Shirt, GameCube Style."

"Also yes, this was done in Happy Home Designer"

KK Slider got really tired of playing Clubs on the weekends so, as an homage to old times playing at the Roost, here you can see KK harassing local Cafe-goers to listen to his music through the window

this is a homage to what I feel is the most romantic moment on acgc. you walk up to the train station on a saturday night, and there you'll find k.k slider sitting on his little stool. and when he serenades you, the whole world vanishes and it's just you, him, and his beautiful music.

Back in Wild World, I'd win the Flower Fest by stealing my villagers' flowers and claiming them as my own. Well this time I'm participating in the Flower Fest with flowers that I grew (yes, I swear)!
