So last night while I was playing, I was minding my own business when suddenly I saw a Tarantula in my village! It ran into the water so I didn't get a chance to catch it, but I'm still wondering...
Why is it in my town?
I was under the impression that Tarantulas appear in dirty towns and my town is littered with flowers so...what's up?
Hello! While I can see why you would think tarantulas only appear in underkept towns, they can actually appear in any town between the times of 7pm and I believe 4am during June through August. That would be why you only just saw one, what with June starting. But no, they don't appear just in dirty towns, heck mine has had the perfect status for a long time and I caught one just last night. They appear just like any other bug.
"The Tarantula (タランチュラ, Taranchura?) is a rare bug found on the ground during summer nights. It is not to be confused with the spider, which is harmless and has different traits."
"Tarantulas are often docile unless agitated. Walking too fast or running while holding a net generally triggers a reaction, as does throwing the net and missing. When docile, tarantulas move slowly, but when agitated they can move almost as quickly as the player when the player is running at their maximum speed."
So.. It have nothing to do about your town is dirty, (like flys) I saw one too another day!
Okay thanks, I think what caused the misconception it that I've watched videos of Tarantula hunting and they tend to ruin the town (by cutting down trees and such) a little to optimize hunting.
Removing some flowers where you saw it spawn will make it easier to see.
Found out that the tarantula are spawning in the same spot as last year. So I picked up some flowers and put them on the beach. Left some flowers for the tarantula/scorpions to hide.
Three players caught the scorpion in the same spot. It's fun to out run them. Made it to city hall and the scorpion sat at the door while it closed.
