Most of Desert Island Escape is not skill based. You really only require a whimsy and two soft-footed characters to ensure beating it. You'll need to reset a lot, as it's impossible to win at times with the certain set-pieces given. You need to map out the general layout of each map.

As for Puzzle league, it's generally the same.
For the harder levels, it greatly depends on which blocks you get first.
I always have Mable's Amiibo as a backup.
