So I really want to have a full catalog, all villagers I want, all pwps I want, all badges, the town design I want, etc etc. Problem is is that is it taking a long time due to the fact that I am legit stressing out about it.

I see people with flawless town designs and full catalogs to pick and choose items whenever they want and I want that too! But that takes a long time and it makes it feel more like work. I just horde items to collect, go on to get a pwp and then shut it off. The game has just lost its charm on me and it makes me really sad.

Has anyone else suffered from this? Any advice on how to switch your mindset on perfecting your town?

I went on a 3 year hiatus from the game (recently started playing again this summer) because the upkeep of my town was GENUINELY stressing me out and making me feel guilty (even though it's just a fictional game!) Said hiatus lost me 2 villagers I quite liked and ALL my hybrids, clovers and jacob's ladders died.

I never know what items I want to keep so my exhibition rooms in the museum are JAM packed with crap that I'm not even sure that I want.

I'd say take it a day at a time and trade for items. There's also no time limit/frame on the game, so remember that! There's no rush in making your town perfect!

Good luck and I hope you feel better about it!

I remind myself that there's no rush; I could play ACNL into old age if I wanted so there's no reason to grind for bells and items all day every day. Some days I play and just mess around and have fun, other times when I feel up to obsessive checklisting I do that. Play the game however it suits you at the time, eventually you'll still meet your goals.

I went hardcore obsessed with Bunifrey. It was REALLY important to me to finish landscaping and getting my perma-villagers. I've achieved that, so now I'm just kinda taking it one day at a time. Sure, there's days when I barely play, if at all, but if I kept stressing about it, I'd never wanna play the game again.

My advice would be to focus on one specific goal (maybe just slowly building your catalog, or going through the stuff you currently have and pick what's worth keeping - I tend to just keep unorderables), just do a little bit each day and then spend the rest of the day you dedicate to the game to just be chill with it.

Thanks to all of you! I'm feeling a little better. I'm working on getting the last jock pwp from Jitters. I got Stitches in order to get pieces to make a park but I think I'm going to forget about the park. I feel like I need to move on and begin placing paths and flowers down. I feel like once I do that, I'll get more into it.

I dunno though. I really want a park but I don't think I can take it. I dunno. So indecisive.

Perfecting my town is part of what makes me want to play it so much :P But you could take a break form actively trying to complete every aspect of the game, and do what you want in the moment, whether it's catching bugs, landscaping, spam chatting villagers, or whatever else you feel like doing.

I got so obsessed over completing my museum, to the extent that I had to tt to the months I missed and then forward to get the last of the Autumn fish and bugs I needed. It really was annoying me that I hadn't got it completed and couldn't contemplate waiting another year to get to the right month in real time. Then I was obsessed with the catalogue, I've just completed the item section 100%, now I'm working on the rest. Made a list and even a Wishlist so I could work out what I need, it really is obsessive sounding ;)
My badges are also annoying me, need to get the street pass bronze at the least but I am nowhere near so it's driving me crazy....

My actual town I'm not so obsessive with. I'm quite good at keeping everything clean and tidy and removing stray flowers, I do get over the top when I decide I want a villager out after I've decided on a replacement....they have to go as soon as possible. But I think mostly at the minute I have other things to obsess over so it's not such an issue, yet ;)
