Stabbing in the back? No offense, but that just creates some paranoia that who ever is not in the group is someone who will potentially be an awful person whose goal is to back stab, not have a good time. You don't need to be in some exclusive club to have a good experience. Get to know the people you want to invite to your town so you can lower your risk of bad things happening. It's a chance we all take, and I don't need to be in a special group to do so.
You are forgetting that you need to put your faith in the person to go into your land to begin with. You do that via trust, and with a list of people who was already proven worthy, you know you do not have to worry so much about the said people on that list, because they know how to ask and be polite, and not do things outside of what is acceptable. You do not have to be a member of this group to interact with them, nore do anything else. It is completely optional to join or not, so no, you do not have to be in the group at all.
Personally i feel your thinking to hard on the subject.
An Animal Crossing clan, interesting concept. Seems like it could work well. On the flip side it could also end up being a bunch of elitist individuals. I have seen things like this go both ways.
So my question really is who screens the screeners? How are the leaders/founders accountable?
I am not trying to discredit the leaders or the concept I am just trying to understand it more. This is coming from my RL experience in things of a similar nature.
I hope you don't take offense to my inquiry.
**EDIT**
I forgot to add that this can also be a good way for someone to gain power over others - Start the Clan and declare supreme dictatorship. Doesn't mean the intent is not good but we all know the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
AGAIN, Not try to offend or judge - just pointing out some observation from my experience
First answer: We are not a 'clan', we are a group. Clan just sounds TO extream for what we do... but yes, you are right that things can go both ways. HOWEVER, I have been a group and guild leader for over twenty years though various video games, and in real life i have been a leader in multiple sports, and events... even before that, I was the top in my class, and have been a shoulder for people to lean on all my life. I have the experience under my belt to continue to be a good leader for other people.
Second, about your screenings question: We risk our own town and hard work so you do not have to risk yours. Upon peoples attempts in joining--or even just wanting to hang out, we do go about and have a couple of in-game events, and watch how people react to them. The rest of the process is classified. (ooo... teasing. XD)
Third, your accountable question: We're not. Its just, and only me, that is offering that, because I am generious to at least attempt to make said 'victim' feel somewhat better if their hard work was destroyed froms ome other idiot out there.
fourth, yes it is alright to try and understand it, but i feel you are thinking to hard on this when obviously we were a success in City Folk.
Fifth, no, there will not be any 'supreme dictatorship.' To others who are ill experienced who throw their powers around like a bunch of dummies, yes, but the thing is the Oakridge Brigade does not take favor to egotistic blockheads. Were here to help people. Thats it.
Sixth, you saying 'your experience' over and over again like that does not make you look to good yourself. But as you said, even though your not that good at hiding it: 'Not try to offend or judge - just pointing out some observation from my experience'
Please don't hate on me, but I gotta say this...
Although this seems like an okay idea from the outset, this idea of a blacklist concerns me. There are two sides to every story, and this "name and shame" idea, in my opinion, could cause a lot of trouble.
Also...
To me, this description fits The Bell Tree as a whole. I wouldn't like to think the people on this forum don't aim to achieve the exact same thing. With that in mind, it seems the only purpose of this club is "exclusivity", which creates heirarchy. While that might appeal to some people, I feel something like that could have the potential to divide TBT community (which seems to be flourishing atm). Personally, I don't need to be part of some exclusive club, and I certainly don't feel I need to "qualify" for membership in order for people on this forum to WiFi with me.
I don't want to cause any offence by this, I'm just offering my humble opinion.
"To me, this description fits The Bell Tree as a whole." Yes, because that is exactly what it is. The bell tree as a whole. Its a way to weed out the bad seeds. There is nothing "Exclusive" here. Ifthat were the case, the admins would have stopped us when we first began in City Folk. If the OakRidge Brigade was that big of a problem, trust me, they'd know about it, and do something. Believe me, they approved of us way back in 2008, and nothing bad has happened between the six years we have been around.
Also, once again, for the last time, it is volentary. Just because we exist does not mean you need to be a part of it.
Thanks for the Blacklist. Ill now check with whom I wifi with wont be in the blacklist. From either games.
You're welcome ^_^
