Now that farming has been confirmed...

I'm glad, I have a farm/orchard area by Tangy's house that has a bunch of free space next to it, and now I can fill that area with real crops!

I'm happy about this update. I hope it doesn't become a huge thing and instead is something like the fruit trees. I actually have a small farm on my island so this will free up some pattern slots. Some new crops would be great, especially so we could make them match the seasons.

I already have a farm area that I used to display my turnips when I did stocks lol
so I'll just need to tweak it a bit for the farming stuff! I'm v excited =w=

i think the Thanksgiving event will probably have us "cook" some things with crops (but really we just craft them). it would be nice if we could make actual food items because i imagine therell be a time when ive given a villager all the gifts i want to give them, but i still want to give them something so food would be a pretty cool gift. i dont need cooking to be happy with the game, but i would be glad if it's added. im content with farming because it just fits with animal crossing in my opinion.

I think farming would be so cute and fun!! I really hope they create a way to cook with the farmed veggies.

I have a plot of dirt infront of my house for farming and I am ready to go. The villagers of Usagi wanna farm carrots.

I hope you get them! 😊 I can’t wait to visit your dream again and see actual crops/farm in it.

I’d like there to be more function to them besides being like a fruit tree (or at least when eating them, get some different ability besides breaking rocks and uprooting tree like swim faster, breathing underwater longer, etc), but going to keep my expectations low even though my hopes for cooking - if it’s a permanent and not just a seasonal or holiday activity, are kinda high (or at least how I’d like it to be).

I've got a great location on my island that could be used for farming, I just want it to be worth the time and effort it'll take to plow the grounds in preparation for planting.

Forgot to put this in my last comment: I have an area that Is arranged like a countryside, so I think the pumpkins will look great there. :) I had flowers in the fenced areas; will need to find somewhere else to put them (even if just temporarily since my flowers are all over the place anyways because of posters).

I'm so excited to be able to farm! i'm hoping pumpkins are just a gateway into a wider variety of things (hopefully on a similar cycle to the bushes like you mentioned). I have a little farm area set up above my campsite already so looks like my yellow hyacinth corn and mum cushion cauliflower can be upgraded to actual crops!!

i have mini farms scattered all over my island and i'm honestly thrilled to finally be able to turn most of them into actual functioning farms. very happy that i can also save on qr slots too bc i could finally get rid of dirt/mock farm qr codes i saved in order to make my existing farms.

I was curious to see how the crops would look in ACNH, but the pumpkins are so adorable! I’m hoping we will get typical crops like potatoes, corn, tomatoes, etc. for Thanksgiving (it seems likely). Idk if I’ll put pumpkins on my island, so I’ll likely be waiting until Nintendo puts out the next update for Thanksgiving/Christmas. I think it’d be super cute to do cooking, especially for food items and treats. It’d be nice to have it separate from the regular furniture. :3

I'm guessing there's a good chance for new crops come November! Overall, I am SUPER excited. I've already cleared out plenty of space for my pumpkins, and added a cute little water pump + bucket combo (that caught my eye in the announcement video, lol) and it's going to look SO cute! I've got four areas to plant them so far- two 2X3 areas, and two 4X4 areas.

The thing I'm curious about- will pumpkins be a year round "crop"? Or can they only be planted in October? If they add more veggies, will they be the same?

Datamine found:
  • Tomato
  • Potato
  • Carrot
  • Pumpkin
  • Wheat
  • Sugar
Pumpkins are being added next week, and I can see tomatoes, potatoes and carrots being used for the Thanksgiving/Christmas update. Heck, even wheat and sugar could be used to some extent.

I'm not really looking forward to any new fruit or vegetable in particular, but I really wish they would let us craft those little drinks villagers have (sometimes in a cup with orange slice on them, or in a can) with the fruit we already grow. It could be a one time use item like the coffee cup used to be in New Leaf where you could hold it and press "a" to drink it 😍
