Now I know why Raymond is so popular

I have him (found on an island) and what I really enjoy about him aside from his cute character design is the fact that all his bragging and inflated ego works so well given the hype about him in real life. It made me laugh so hard when he said that me adopting him was a pretty big deal for my town and that it raised its status, because he's literally famous. Like articles have been written about this cat. So this all makes me enjoy him much more since his dialog is perfectly suited to the backstory of his popularity.

Whether you like Raymond or not, that's your subjective opinion. Raymond is objectively one of the most popular villagers in NH based on the insane prices people pay for him (including real money) and the high ratings he gets in most villager popularity polls. Some if it may be because he's the shiny new toy in AC, but he's a lot more popular than most of the other new villagers. A lot of people on this site really like him, and I don't think "12 year old girls" are a very high percentage of TBT members. Every villager is unique to some extent, but unique doesn't necessarily mean good. A kindergartner's art project may be unique, but chances are no one will be impressed except maybe the parents. Your favorite book, movie, or any other work of art may not be very popular or famous and there's nothing wrong with that, but most popular/famous books, movies, etc. appeal to diverse audiences. Raymond has widespread appeal while a lot of other villagers have only niche appeal. That doesn't make Raymond good or bad, but he's indisputably popular among ACNH players.

Thats the reason hes so pricy is not even for his looks but because of the taste that little kids have. Im only judging by appearence that he looks pretty basic overall compared to other unique designs. 90% of raymond people only like him because he was made that way by kids and not cuz of their taste.

I don't know about the demographics of other AC sites, but over half of the TBT members who voted in this poll are at least 22 years old.

FYI, I'm in my late 20's. He was definitely not designed by kids, and in my experience kids prefer flashy and colorful things while adults prefer more basic looking things. I think he's actually a lot more popular with adults than kids because a lot of kids don't have the experience to appreciate his business look. Kids are probably not making the "Everybody Loves Raymond" memes because they probably don't know that show.

You don't like Raymond and that's fine but just leave it at that.Don't start pulling fake statistics out of your ear just to support your "argument" such as it is.

I wish I had Raymond so much. I think AC fans just go crazy over adorable smugs like him, Marshal, and Julian (remember Julian and Marshal in NL?)
