tl;dr Right-wing anti-multiculturalism conservative, Anders Behring Breivik, in Norway detonates bombs in political center of Oslo, distracting police and killing 7. Breivik, posing as a police officer, travels to a political summer camp on the island via ferry and massacres at least 80 teenagers. It takes police an hour and a half to reach the island.

May all 87+ victims rest in peace. My thoughts are with the families of the victims as well as with the Norwegian members of TBT (I know there are at least a few).

What are your thoughts on the twin attacks on Oslo + Ut?ya island? Discuss.
 
Well it was a socialist summer camp, so I assume he was trying to eliminate the future generation of socialists, or part of it. But I haven't a clue otherwise.
 
Wow, this man was really messed up in the head. He wrote crazy books on his beliefs and praised "anti-Jewish" thoughts and that a Christian Europe should be fought for. :/

And are you sure the group was a socialist group? Apparently it was a workers youth union (AUF) that stayed on the island, but the AUF was merged with socialist and communist groups way earlier in time. Does anyone know if these youths were just there to represent laborers or actually were fascists?

I thought it was a camp for the youth wing of Norway's Labour Party.

The Norwegian guy used MW2 to kill his victims.
The suspect behind the recent terrorist attacks in Oslo, Norway claims, via a manifesto, that he used Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as a type of training simulation to prepare him for yesterday's events. Though police have not officially revealed his name, the man has been identified by local media as Anders Behring Breivik, a 32-year-old Norwegian.Seven people have been confirmed dead from the bomb explosion that shook the Norwegian capital of Oslo as police said that the explosive was set-up in a car. At least 85 others were killed in a shooting at a youth camp in nearby Utoya Island, bringing the current death count to 92. Official sources and social media indicate that Breivik might be a right-wing Christian fundamentalist who may have had an issue with Norway's multi-cultural society. It may explain why he targeted a politically-partisan youth camp organized by the Labour Party which currently holds power in the country.Breivik is now being linked to a 1,500 page manifesto that lists popular FPS Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as a means of training for what he believes is an impending war with Islam. He writes:"I just bought Modern Warfare 2, the game. It is probably the best military simulator out there and it's one of the hottest games this year. ... I see MW2 more as a part of my training-simulation than anything else. I've still learned to love it though and especially the multiplayer part is amazing. You can more or less completely simulate actual operations."

And these are the kinds of deranged lunatics that give Christians a bad name. My prayers go out to all of the families. This just isn't right.
 
Here is the thing, the guy was a lunatic. His affiliations, and all other identifiers are null and void, because he was a lunatic.

Religion doesn't matter, race doesn't matter, hobbies don't matter. Because he had a screwed up mind. The only thing that should really be taken into consideration here is any trauma he was put through as a child, if there was no trauma, perhaps there was no reason other than he was a deranged lunatic. As scary as it is sometimes there is no real reason other than being insane.

In that mindset you twist other views to fit your own. Religion can be twisted into a reason to commit violence. So could a ton of things from a vision while high, to a sacrifice for mother teresa, it doesn't have to make sense he is just a bad person looking for any excuse. Video games though not really the cause of violence does portray violence, and can be twisted to be seen as a way to learn it. But so could movies. Or even just watching world war 2 documentaries. Or perhaps a play with violence. Heck may be just go watch animals fight to the death and learn from that. It is impossible to remove violence entirely from our world, so it is an impractical solution.

The best way to deal with things like this are to be vigilant. If there is someone who seems psychotic, lacks empathy entirely, shows a large amount of paranoia, odds are they need help.
