Nook Miles Items

Some Nook Miles Items you can only get through trade. But I was wondering if you can visit another persons island and buy the items on their island on that terminal?

(Honestly, I only have access to a yellow light house, and was hoping for a black and white one or the brick. Also I have a red spring horse when I am wanting the zebra spring)

If I remember correctly the Nook Terminal said something along the lines of only registered islanders may use the terminal. I was visitng a friends town and wanted to get more bells from the ABD and could not access it at all.
