No turkey day?

I think the reason Halloween wasn't blocked was because the preparation lasted the entire month. It was probably a bit more difficult coding wise to lock off the day when the preparation took all month.

I was sort of hoping after a bit of time had passed the events would just unlock at a bit of a delay, but now that they haven't I really have to question Nintendos motives. This might have stopped people TTing to the show off the events, but it's just enabling hackers to distribute the items at an even higher mark-up as it doesn't stop item generators from accessing the new things...

Usually you have to connect to the internet when its time for the event in order to unlock it. Doing so adds a letter such as "A" or "B" to the version. Example "1.6.0a". I don't know why they didn't lock Halloween, but it's been like this since Bunny Day.

i'd prefer it to be time locked, just so i don't possibly come across any spoilers, personally :c

i don't care if people TT, i just don't like to be shown things ahead of time.

maybe they just wanted people to experience the event how you're supposed to? idk what nintendo's got going on in their brain cavity.

It's kinda ruins the fun if people TT and tell us what to expect on a given Holiday..I mean it's fine if you wish to TT but just don't spoil it for the rest of us..so having time locked will give a lot of players a chance to properly experience the holidays together 😉

I'm ok with this being time locked, it gives people the chance to caych up and make things fairer for everyone. I assume you'll be able to TT if you can't play the event the day of so it's not like you're forced to play it on that day.

It would be the exact same thing if they didn't release the update now and only released it then. It doesn't make a difference other than people knowing the content is there. At least this way we get some stuff beforehand.

And yeah, nobody's forcing anyone to take down decorations. I've got a bunch of Halloween things on my island and I'll probably keep them lol.

if you turn the pumpkin decorations around, most of them have blank backs, and it just looks like an autumn pumpkin assortment 🖤
such a nice touch for the fall season, in my opinion.

I love Christmas so much I'll most likely keep all the decorations up until the snow melts..I'm really excited for the snow in acnh !! Winter is my favorite season in ac especially in nl so I'm so excited to build snow people on my island 😍

Well the amount of people that have the items now proves that their plan to not spoil everyone with items beforehand failed.
Not sure why they even bothered. Hackers will always find a way lol.

the only new item i've seen has been the yule log (obviously besides snippets in the trailer), and they sent that out to everyone with the download 🤔 i'm also not actively searching for pictures that contain new items, either, though.

the whole lock the events method is truly the worst thing nintendo could have done. They are all against the ppl selling items for real money and all but now that legit nobody except the hackers can access the items, theres more people than ever paying real money to get the items from these hackers. This is a huge profit for anyone that sells ac items. They played themselfes.

They are all over free treasure islands. I won't mention the names of items to not spoil you, but I already have a great deal of them from visiting those.

I've seen all the new items across reddit and twitter so I don't see how this did anything but stop the average person from decorating when they wanted to. Oh and they gave hackers more of an edge in the markets. Whooo.

It also gave the hackers exposure, which you have to believe Nintendo sees. If they deem a practice against their Terms of Service, it's likely those islands will be deleted. Yes, I know, hackers can just do it again, but at least a message has been/will be sent.

I see this as a case of "cant make people happy no matter what they do". People complained loudly about the Easter event lasting far too long, and now people are unhappy because Thanksgiving is only available on Thanksgiving.

I dont personally have anything against time travel, I've dabbled into it myself in the past, but I dont recall Nintendo ever saying they support or encourage that style of play either and this is simply their way of trying to discourage it or at least keep it under control I think.

On the other hand, I do understand why people would want to get the decor earlier. I'd also like to be able to put up holiday decor earlier than just the day of the holiday. So while I understand why Nintendo is holding this back, I also wish it could be available a bit earlier.

If I'm not mistaken.. isn't there already winter decorations in the game before the update ?

I mean with that not much will change. They are gonna keep runnin in circles

i've seen a few winter decorations before the update was even announced, so i'm assuming yes. some cute little reindeer light things and some christmas-type trees that i've seen already.
