When I played earlier this evening, I saw notice saying server maintenance starting about 40 mins ago from my switch, but I haven’t logged on yet. Maybe it will be live after that.

You're kind of jumping the gun. I'd say give it a full day of the update. I am sure it's still updating even if it looks like maintenance is done. Try to check tomorrow to see if you can do the event.

Maybe this is one of those events that you can’t actually participate in until the day of. In previous games, the Harvest Festival event wasn’t playable until actual Thanksgiving. If not, I’m sure it’ll be fully up and running by tomorrow!

I don't mind if they time lock events, but if they make it so we can only get the holiday furniture on the day of the event like they seem to be doing now, that's extremely stupid. So we're supposed to play on the event day, decorate for ONE DAY and then take it down?

I completely agree. This is why I decided to TT to Halloween when the update came out in October. I guess I see why they time locked the event itself (Franklin), but they should have made the items available now, or "unlocked" them so you could TT to get them. Otherwise youre right, I'm gonna get all these cool items on thanksgiving, and then scramble to decorate my island for half a day? Kinda dumb :/

I have a specific area which I call my "event beach" that I decorate with the current seasonal/holiday decorations and I was really looking forward to get it going with the new Thanksgiving items today/tomorrow so I could enjoy it for at least a week before thanksgiving itself......

I disagree, its way more fun for me personally, and even if I go through the entire event in one sitting I can still spend hours using the new furniture items/etc. to decorate the rest of my island, so I certainly wouldn't say that it leaves me "with nothing to do."

Sometimes I even prefer to get an event "done" earlier if I have a busy week/day and can't fully participate/don't have time to go on AC the day of the event irl. So yeah, I completely disagree with what you said.

It’s a one day event, it’s not exactly going to give you days of content so I don’t see where it leaves you with nothing to do if you time travel to do the event today or wait a week later.
