No Co-op Splitscreen?

Curious if anyone would have the rational behind this decision.

We have only one island, sure fine, but why is playing with two people on the same system so clunky?

My husband and I like playing games together, but we cannot enjoy the co-op mode as it stands in Animal Crossing, being forced to a single player and made to share a screen.

Maybe the Switch couldn't handle rendering the same island twice and having action on two different screens?

At the very least I wish it was like Minecraft, where a guest can join with their own Nintendo profile and save their person off-game through that.

This. My sister likes to run the opposite way and half the time it jerks the camera around for reasons I dont understand.

I wish they did split screen, I tried couch mode and whenever I move the second player the camera moves and it annoys me in a way. Its understandable if they don’t do split screen because of the rendering or the programming in the game.
