Well they do have Wii games on the Wii U VC (Still waiting for Gamecube games urgghhh I want to play Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door guys, auuughhhh), I don't see why not DS VC.

But considering that none of the 1st and 2nd gen Pokemon games are on the 3DS VC, I don't see Heart Gold on there anytime soon.

Honestly this whining about WiiU and New 3DS needs to stop.

Is everyone really that ****ing stupid? -snip because no care-

I used to think people really weren't that stupid. But after working in retail just a few short months, I have to confirm people are really this ****ing stupid. It works for Playstation, there's no confusion when you're buying a new system or a different game. Compared to the Wii U where really cheap parents tried just buying the games but no console over the holiday and did little to no research (just they need to pickup X game because it was on their wishlist), I had to point out and explain what would happen. You equate the whining the internet echo chamber to children crying, but honestly Nintendo Japan has its head stuck so far up its ass the whining really could be cranked up a few notches until they realize their mistakes. Wii U is forgivable, but Wii 2 would have saved them trouble in the long run because at least then it's obvious it's something new. New 3DS just confuses the average shopper (and probably the uncaring worker) because of the word play. What works in Japan doesn't necessarily work in other counties.

As for the original topic, Nintendo hasn't realized their potential online market at all. The fact there's what? Zero N64 games on the Wii U eShop is embarrassing. All these "supported" consoles coming to the eShop when the selection we have is pitiful and remains pitiful.

Tom you have evolved into "Bitter Retail Employee".

I think Nintendo needs a bitter retail employee to be present at their meetings to offer critique on their naming conventions. Or to just stop putting " new" in front of everything

But why? I bet everyone is looking forward to the New Super Wii U Turbo.

The name is confusing. Naming an item "new" is a ridiculously silly marketing decision. People are getting the wrong idea with this thread, I merely mentioned the Wii U and New 3DS as EXAMPLES of bad Nintendo decisions. The thing that I'm urging people to discuss are people's opinions on DS titles in the E-shop.
That's the problem. A USED copy of heart gold costs around ?40 in the UK.
The "new" (technically not new, just unopened) copies of heart gold are going for stupid money, like ?200 - probably more.

Yeah so confusing NEW 3DS, sells more than other 3DS and picked up sales slack for original, people must really have no idea what's going on

Do you have anything else to add or is this all you've got to say? Cause you may as well lock the board now and stop trying if all you can do is be confused about Nintendo and say it's all stupid when only idiots like you are getting mixed up. I've yet to see you post anything productive and everyone has slammed the hell outta you.

Is everyone really that ****ing stupid? Sony only does +1 each time and Xbox changes the suffix each time, but that's apparently easy enough to remember

To be fair, Wii U just isn't as obvious.

Playstation 1,2,3 + 4 are easier to remember and recognize as different consoles because...Well, the numbers go up. It's pretty much the best naming choice a console has made in a long time because it really is that stupidly simple that literally anybody can tell which one is newer.

There's a ton of reasons the Wii U is obviously not a new thing to most people. I'm just going to say 'marketing' as a blanket excuse though. By now I don't think that the Wii U name is much of an issue anyway. There's been enough mention of how stupid it is that most people now know that it's a different console.

The name of the 'new 3DS' really isn't that much better. In fact, it's kinda worse.

- Regular store conversation -

Staff: "Excuse me, Sir. This game only works on a 'new 3DS', can I confirm that you own one?"
Customer: "It only works on new '3DS's?"
Staff: "Yes"
Customer: "So it won't work on mine because I've had it a while?"
Staff: ".......Let me just start the power point presentation"

Or.

Staff: "Excuse me, sir. This game only works on a 'new 3DS', can I confirm that you own one?"
Customer: "It's for my son/daughter. We got her a new '3DS' for Christmas"
Staff: "Can I just confirm that it's a 'new 3DS' rather than a '3DS'?"
Customer: "............It plays games?"
Staff: "*sigh*"

Like, literally anything would have been better than 'new' 3DS. You could have called it the 3DSi and it would have instantly been a better choice of name.

Not really bitter, I just don't have high expectations from many of the people who come through my checklane anymore. I'm just glad the Christmas time game rush has died off, no more confused parents or grandparents.
