Of course, not everything developed in video games is perfect. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is no exception.

Today, I just discovered a brand new bug in the game. I was wandering around town for a while, then I talked to Kiki (one of the villagers in town), she mentioned that Chester is moving away. Since I want Chester to stay, I save and quit and played again on the same day. I walked in front of him to see if he'd get a surprise, and nope... he didn't do anything. I certainly have been speaking to all of my villagers very often, so it makes no sense as to why Chester hasn't got a "surprise" emotion to have something to say to the player.

It seems to me like Toy Day was programmed to prevent all villagers from having the urge to tell the player something. And I just recently added this new bug to Nookipedia as well.

But just a question... will going back one day fix the problem? 'Cause I really want to make sure Chester stays in town.

I have the same problem :o I've been getting rumors that Chrissy wants to move and have reloaded my game so many times and walked past her every load but she wouldn't ping me. I think they'll start to ping you about the move after the event... probably tomorrow(after toy day).

At least I'm not the only one with this problem. And since Chester has "lazy" personality, he'll be asleep by 10:30 pm. So how am I going to prevent him from leaving on 29th (knowing every villager leaves 5 days after the day they're rumoured or mentioned that they're moving away)? Would going back to 23rd fix the problem? Or won't it make any difference?

It isn't a glitch, though. You can stop Chester from moving after the Toy Day event concludes. Villagers are programmed not to ping on holidays. Going back to the 23rd will count as having time travelled a day forward, but he will be able to ping you. He will also be able to ping you tomorrow. :)

Villagers won't ping you during events so toy day, bunny day, harvest festival etc. they will be able to ping you the next day.

Yea ;__; I was panicking all morning because of it I was also going to make a thread about it. :P well you can wait tomorrow or like what Faery said, you can TT back and it'll count as 1 day forward and ping. I'll just wait for tomorrow. xD

Ah fantastic! Here I was thinking that any villager that is rumoured to be moving away on that day won't ping on the days after they're rumoured to be moving away and would only ping on the day that they're rumoured to be moving away.

Villagers who are planning to move will be able to ping you up until the day they're in boxes, so don't worry! :3

Ah, well that's good to know. I think it's a useful villager moving system that is programmed. Apparently from what I've read, it's exactly identical to Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City's moving system (yet, I have only played that game a few times since launch day). Hopefully it might improve even more in Animal Crossing Wii U. ^^

Fang said Freya was thinking of moving and I went through the same thing but as others have said it's due to the holiday so I wouldn't worry if I were you!!

I noticed it as well. Bianca told me Astrid was planning on moving. I walked in front of Astrid, no ping!, save and quit, load game, stood in front of Astrid again, still no ping.

oh sh!t I just remembered Ankha said Rasher is thinking of moving gotta stop his sorry a55
tomorrow there is no way I am letting him leave. >:C

... I feel so stupid now, I thought you were literally talking about a newly discovered BUG on the game... Like, the kind you fill your encyclopedia with... XD

But anyway, good luck getting Chester to stay. c:
