New to NL

Hello,
I just bought NL and I'm totally new to it.
I have played WildWorld and NH, but I want to play NL too. Cx
Are there any tips or things I should now before I get really into it?

The questions you give Rover during the train ride determine your in-game appearance, and although almost everything in the game is customizable once you get the resources, your face is not. I wish I had know this beforehand, so I would have been more careful about what I said to him.

I'd say later on when you get public works projects that you can't demolish, take the time to find the place that you really think is the best spot since there isn't really a way to change the locations of the buildings afterwards.

Villagers come and go on their own, generally. Occasionally, a villager will tell you that they're planning on leaving and you can either send them on their way or ask them to stay. I've read plenty of times that it relates to their friendship level and that you can get them to leave sooner by abusing them (hitting them with your net, etc.) but I've found that to be very unhelpful.

Unfortunately, nine design slots is your absolute max. However, you can create another player profile for the sake of using theirs. Most of my path tiles are on a secondary player, for instance.

Ah, so in that aspect it's similar to the other games!
I saw that people give villagers away/trade them too, how does that work?
Do they have to be in boxes in my village too?
And are the servers for the game still up or do I have to do some fancy stuff to make it work?

If you have fewer than 9 villagers currently living in your town, random villagers will move in. I have found that the random move-ins often prioritize the personalities that you are missing if you don't have all 8.

In addition to random move-ins, you can invite villagers from other people's towns, via Amiibo, or from the campsite. The campsite is a PWP you can build, but it is permanent so make sure you know exactly where you want it before you build it.

You can have 10 villagers, but the 10th villager will never be a random move in. You must invite them via one of the methods I listed above. Or you can pick up voided villagers from interacting with other people online even if you haven't invited them.

Villagers can place their houses anywhere they find room, so they can end up in very inconvenient places. But with the Welcome Amiibo update, they won't move on top of patterns as long as there's another place that they can move. So you can block areas off using patterns or even force a villager to move in a specific spot by blocking off all areas except a 3x3 space for their house.

Those are all super helpfull information, especially that I cannot move the campsite once I placed it and that I can force villagers to move into specific spots with using patterns.

Last I checked, servers are still up. They'll probably still be up for at least another five years, even if the actual eShop is going down fairly soon.

But this is Nintendo we're talking about, so who knows.

As far as I know, yes. I haven't visited any other towns except locally (my husband and my second town) in a long time, but I do still use the Dream Suite which requires being online. I assume the servers are the same or that they wouldn't leave one up and take the other down.

The ore/gemstones can be used to unlock special refurbishments of furniture via Cyrus (the blue guy who is always asleep in the recycling shop) once you have unlocked his function. Refurbishing just means that you can change the colour scheme of the furniture btw.

As for the dreamsuite, it is a building that you can unlock in mainstreet that Luna will own- you can visit other players towns this way either through random internet selection or with someones dream code

I assume pears are your native fruit. If so, I would bury the perfect pear because then it will grow into a perfect pear tree. The perfect pear tree will grow only perfect pears for a while, but eventually when you harvest it after so many times, the tree will die. But you can replant it using the perfect fruit you harvested. It's the only way to get perfect fruit in your town.

Only your native fruit can grow perfect fruit trees, so even if you obtain other perfect fruit from trading, don't plant it because it will only grow regular fruit trees.

Giving your villagers perfect fruit when they ask for fruit requests can raise their friendship levels quicker. It also sells for more at Re-Tail. Plus some people just think it looks nicer.

For perfect fruit, I like to wait until Re-Tail is offering to buy them for double the amount of bells and then get a lot of them. Same for ore. It's a little bit slower but it pays off a lot more.
