New Player to Animal Crossing

I am a grandmother and wanted a fun game to play as I am retired. I got a NS2 for Christmas and bought AC:NH in January. I am having so much fun!
I am curios about visiting. What exactly happens if I invite over another player? Does the game display chat language in dialogue boxes between us or do we use another method to communicate?
Does a visitor just roam my island at will? Or do we sort of roam around in sight of each other? I don't think I am at risk of losing anything significant to a visitor but I don't have any fences. I have a lot of open land to roam around in and quite a few plantings. Can visitors dig up plants and trees? If my money tree is displaying bags, can a visitor shake it and pick up the fallen money bags? Can they enter my house with or without me?
I have native cherries in my southern island. I have pears, peaches, coconuts, flowers and shrubs. I don't yet have oranges or apples. I have had bamboo since Jan and the first few days I got 3 bamboo shoots but no more since. It's puzzling. There's a lot I don't know.
I bought Happy Homes Paradise in Feb and that has provided me with even more interesting things to do.
Now it's March and I think I might enjoy a visitor or me visiting someone this week. I am in Florida time zone and play most afternoons and again in late evening. It would be fun to meet someone else who is a new player and interested in visiting and possibly becoming a friend.

Welcome!! Nobody can touch your island unless you grant them permission like digging up flowers for example, although I dont know about money trees. However, I promise you are in a wonderful community here, and I have never once met anyone who will take advantage. You can always instantly kick someone off of your island as well if they are over staying their welcome!

You can, however drop items for others to pick up, and we can do the same for you if you are looking for any specific items!

Are their any items or anything you are looking for? Like fruit trees, or any DIY items, etc... ? I would be happy to help you! You can visit my island to get an idea of how it works if you like!

Also, use a dodo code instead of Switch friend requests. The dodo code is a one time invite from the airport, and only the people with the code can visit, so you don't have to worry about anyone visiting when you dont want.

P.S. edit... I just reread your post and see you need oranges and apples. I would be happy to give you some, but if not myself, there are many people here who would probably love to help you

Thanks so much! Are afternoons (2-4pm) or evenings (8-10pm) a better time? Are you available tomorrow or Wed? I smiled at your "byline" as two of my created characters represent my 2 cats- RB and Ash. They rule our Florida home for sure.
If you could bring a couple of oranges and apples that would be wonderful!! I have quite a few DIY recipes now that require them. I don't mind slow game progression so waiting a couple of weeks to make an orchard from them is perfectly fine.

Is there a thread that is specific to New Horizons that discusses of the villagers characteristics? I read through some back in 2020 and 2022 that seems to indicate NH villagers are less rude. None of mine are rude. Even the jocks and cranky ones are very likeable. I have had 2 move out since I started playing in January 2026. The first was a random game replacement and the second one I invited. I want to keep a nice mix up of personalities and not sure how to best do that.
