Buying New player looking to buy an Axe from someone's town

I am on day 4 of my town and I have gotten too impatient with not being able to cut down a few certain pesky trees that are making my town a nuisance to walk through. Does anyone have an axe they would be willing to sell me?

You need to get the gardening store open and then you can just get an axe there for 400 bells.

I think you get the garden store when you spend a lot of money at that shop where you buy stuff, not the clothes but stuff for your house like furniture, carpet, wallpaper, paper, etc
