For those of you who have the New N3DS, what is your safeguard against having someone ruin your town? There is no wifi switch, and you can't press home to go to menu to turn it off, so what do you do when you want to end an online session without saving?

turning it off is all you can do
its a bit annoying but yeah

Yeah that seems like a way to corrupt your file :(

Hold the power button or unplug the router if you're near it xD

I guess turning off the router works.. lol that's really inconvenient though, especially if other people are using the internet haha. I wonder why they would remove that switch.. I also wonder why they moved the stylus to the bottom instead of on the side. There were some weird changes they made to the NEW 3DS that made things a lot less convenient for users. Haha

Just make an excuse like "Oops! The connection has been slow so it might help if I restart the router. Are you with me?!" xD But seriously, Nintendo shouldn't have removed the switch. It doesn't make sense unless they did it as a design choice since the volume slider is now on the upper half. It'd look uneven with the wifi switch located on the side. The stylus position doesn't bother me since I use my finger most of the time haha but I remember one instance when I plugged my earphones. I couldn't properly take out the stylus because the jack gets in the way. That's probably the only time I thought about the stylus should still be at the back or on the bottom side. I can see why it's very inconvenient for people who prefers using them.

If someone else is online I ask them to come but error before it starts to save. If not I just go with it rather than turn off my system. It sucks, but oh well. Stuff happens.

I think the only times I've ever flicked the WiFi switch have involved Club Tortimer and random people trying to trap you there (a few years ago, pre-update obviously). I've never had anyone try to wreck my town or do anything they weren't supposed to in my town. But I mostly just do trades, not hanging out with people in towns.

If I remember right, Nintendo's excuse for taking off the switch was that they wanted to encourage people to keep their WiFi on pretty much at all times, so you can StreetPass and such.

Couldn't you just take the Cartridge out? :/ I don't think it will corrupt the file ?\_(ツ)_/?

I think Nintendo forgets sometimes who plays their games: snot nosed kids and trolling teens who will often go out of their way to be little turds and ruin the experience for others. Not saying that every under 20 person does this, but a nice chunk of them do. We've all met some brat begging for bells when they have expensive items on their person [crowns, bow hair, etc.] and are more than capable of farming for beetles and sharks when they don't waste time hitting you with a hammer. There will always be someone who goes out of their way to steal items on the ground and trample on your hybrids, take your perfect fruit, etc. Spot-pass can be cool and all, but most of the time, I don't yield any results due to demographics. It all depends on whether you live/travel an area that's heavy on 3DS users.

I know if you're playing the Pokemon games while connected to WiFi, hitting HOME will disconnect you and force you to log back in to the player search system. I don't know if hitting HOME works for disabling WiFi, but it's worth a suggestion, I think.
