I spent too much time this morning creating a spreadsheet containing all of the non-orderable items in AC:NL (I think) and a potential layout for storing them. To be more specific, a layout involving 3 players, where two exist solely to store items. I tried to sort things in a relatively intuitive way but I really mostly made this spreadsheet for myself, so if any of it is unintelligible gibberish let me know and I can try to explain better.
To go more in depth on my reasoning on storage choices:

To go more in depth on my reasoning on storage choices:
- Player 1 (assumed to be your main player) has their entire house and secret storage available, so you can decorate/store whatever you may need to without having to worry about running out of 'unorderable' space
- The 'storage' players (P2 and P3) would need to upgrade their house enough to have a full-size Main Floor, Upper Floor, and Basement, and the secret storage, but no extra rooms on the main floor
- Fortune cookie items are stored in their own room in P2's second floor, and aren't included in their respective sections
- Furniture takes up P1's regular storage, P2's regular and secret storage, and about a third of P3's secret storage
- Wallpaper/flooring is in P3's regular storage
- Clothing is in the remaining space in P3's secret storage
- Gyroids are in the museum rental rooms, with space to walk around and interact with all of them
- P2's Basement has all of the HHS equipable items
- P2's Main floor has the remaining equipable items (tools, wetsuits, etc)
- P3's Upper floor has the few umbrellas, stationery, and fake art pieces
- P3's Main floor and Basement each have half of Cyrus' music boxes
