I'm not Catholic or anything close to it, but I'm glad they chose a new Pope quickly. I knew a lot of Catholic people in school and I know how important the Pope is to them. I'm just disappointed I didn't have my TV on to hear the announcement on the news! xD

I'm Catholic and.. it's not that important to me tbh
Although I'm not even much of a proper catholic anyway
I think suicide, euthanasia, homosexuality etc is all fine which goes against my religion
I just believe in God and some of their beliefs so yayyyyy.

Sorry, I don't know much about Catholics..

The most important duty is to guide and support the whole of the Church. He is the Leader of the Church. He also says some prayers out on a balcony of the sisteen chapel each week.

I think the Jodi Arias trial is a LITTLE MORE IMPORTANT.

I wish he could have kept his name as Pope Jorge. That's an awesome name. OR POPE MARIO. Why couldn't he have been Pope Mario?!

A little more important? It's really not that important at all. They've talked that case to death. You might occasionally get them to talk about something else but 95% of the time they're just talking about that insane murdering nut-job. I'm just glad she's finally not testifying anymore. -.- She's clearly guilty but I figure she's going to get off anyway if one juror doesn't understand something completely.

Papal names are probably a way to show the man going from 'average religious guy' and stepping up into his new identity as the Pope. You apparently don't understand religion so I can see how you wouldn't understand how important being placed in such a position would be.

I am very excited for the new pope! My school is Catholic, I'm Episcopal, so I hear all the religious news every week day. My friends all say it is a little strange how they picked a new pope who was about the old pope's age. (5 years younger I think) Usually they pick a pope who is in his 60s.
