I just saw the satire film, "Network," last week. It is VERY funny, and if you haven't seen it, it's definitely worth a rental. There are great performances from Faye Dunaway, Peter Finch, and William Holden.
I'm sure it was hilarious when it was first released in 1976, but I suppose it must seem not quite so hilarious now because so many of the "intentionally ridiculous" ideas/events have unbelievably come true during recent years (e.g., reality TV; multi-national corporations owning national communications/news companies; news as entertainment; media obsession with media; etc.).
"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
