Haha thanks for the link! I'm still a little confused though. Is the void a glitch? Since it's a "holding cell" that means you no longer have that villager walking around in your town?

It's not a glitch, it's how the game intends for players to "pass along" villagers to one another.

I wouldn't call it a glitch, more like a game mechanic. But yeah, any villager that you void (as in those who move out on their own without being adopted by someone) will be placed there where they can then be transferred to another town after wifi or be "deleted". Sorry if that's confusing, I wouldn't say I'm an expert on this topic

Yep and everytime you wifi, the other person has the risk of acquiring that villager if they have space and the reason you'd want to clear your void is to prevent that
