The animals that have left and never has been adopted they go into "void" as in a place of empty where you never see those animals
Something like that
But sometimes other can pick them up without saying nothing
Or if you go a town with 10 villagers they dissapear

It's my cycle town so sometimes depending of the villager I void quick if it's tier 5
(some I let them to. Be adopted but other don't)
