Need Some Technical Help....

So my New 3DS is having some serious issues. The battery is completely dead and the system restarts randomly. I need to find a way to salvage my town from my digital copy of ACNL.

I would do a system transfer but my only other system is the 3DS XL and they're not backwards compatible. I'm wondering if there's a way to save my town data, factory reset my New 3DS, then log into my Nintendo ID on my old 3DS and redownload ACNL digital.

Is this possible?

I think your best bet is to call Nintendo Customer Service on Monday. They’d be able to help you more than anyone here would. Hope things turn out well for you!
