So I hopped on last night, during the fireworks show. I found out Eric was moving, which is the first I heard of it. (I didn't play for like 2 days, and right before that I convinced a different villager to stay). Anyway I tried to get his attention but since the fireworks were going all he would talk about was the show. Anyway I hopped on just now and yep, he's in boxes. The game gave me literally like 2 days. Anyway I haven't saved yet today, is there a possibility that I can reset and TT back to tomorrow, before the show started, or will the game realize I was on just now and show him moved already? (I'd rather adopt him out if that's the case)

Anyway, just frustrated. Last month Beardo wanted to move. I like him but I was fine having an open space for someone I really wanted. However every time I talked to him he got all depressed about moving and kept asking me if he should stay. Finally I caved when he was in boxes already and let him. Nothing like this with Eric though.

Just ugh.

Sadly he will still be in boxes, if not moved out. I read that going backwards in the game is also like only going one day forward. So he might be gone, he might still be in boxes, I'm not completely sure, but I know for a fact once they are in boxes, they do not go back. Even if you reset the game. :/

i'm afraid if a villager is already in boxes then it means he's leaving no matter what :(

Had you talked to him before/after the fireworks show (Starts at 7pm ends at 12am) you could have possibly convinced him to not move out, so no. Sadly its not possible to stop a villager from moving once their in boxes.

You could have checked before signing on (as i like to call it when you start your game) with a new character and see if he was in boxes (a new day in ACNL is 6am, possibly you knew that already?) and if he was, you could have quit, gone back in time earlier in the day (Sunday) and talked to him because the game hadn't put him in boxes yet.

But now, because you've signed in with your mayor for today, the game has essentially locked whats going to happen (meaning Erik will move out)

So, the best case as you've said is to adopt him out (its sad, Erik is a cool villager)

If you need, I can hold him for you on my cycling town. It shouldn't be long before he wants to move and come back to your town - you can pm me if you want to.

And I can confirm that when a villager is in boxes, there is nothing you can do : when I cycle, I go back in time everytime a villager is in boxes and he is voided. You can let him go or give him, but there is no solution to keep him in your town. s:
