Need help from old time gamers

So I really enjoy playing old gba games (mainly pokemon), but I only have one GBA SP and no link cable. As I thought it will be too expensive to buy a new gba with a link cable, I thought about this: Does a GC-GBA link cable work for the wii? Because then I can just buy the link cable and buy Pokemon XD/TV or anything like that, to make me able to trade from the GBA cartridge, to the gamecube game and back to another GBA cartridge. I wouldn't be able to mix records and stuff like that, but at least I would be able to trade my pokemons.
The question again, in case it was hard to see: Can I use a Gamecube to Gameboy Advance link cable on my wii?

I was going to say no, but I forgot the cable hooked up to a gamecube controller slot. I'll have to try it later because I do have the cable from the gamecube.

Yeah, it does work in a Nintendo Wii as you can plug it in to get to the Island on Animal Crossing and I have played the Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures many times on my Nintendo Wii.

Now, what game should I get? I know that Pokemon box is just for storage, but I want something fun, were I can actually get some legendaries and enjoy the gameplay.

I still have Crystal and Yellow from the olden days. (I always thought Crystal was the best of the GB games)

I have a GC/GBA cable and have played on the ACPG island a few times.

Box is good for storage and getting some Pokemon with rare moves(surfing Pichu/extremespeed Zigzagoon) but you have to catch/see 60 Pokemon before even thinking about using it. Also acts like a GBA Player and allows you to play Ruby/Sapphire on it. Personally I would try and get both Colosseum and XD, both were good games with plenty of legends.

You just need a GC controller, or the one for the wii that's GC'afied (not a word but oh well) yeah the GC link cable defs works for Wii, I've used it. You'll probably need a GC memory card, I don't know if GC data saves to the Wii's memory though. I don't think it does. yeah idk much more

Gamestop, Amazon, etc. I got a link cable for about ten bucks last time.
