🦇 Welcome to my Inktober Challenge Thread! 🎃
For the entire month of October I and a few other TBT members will challenge ourselves to draw at least one picture per day. In the process we will stretch our skills and expand our horizons.

Here are the rules:
1. Every day you must draw one thing. Traditional and digital mediums are allowed. Drawing can be of anything; a character, scenery, plants, friends, pets.
2. Must at least be a full fledged sketch or lineart, ideally you should try to complete the drawing before the day ends (with coloring, shading, etc.)
3. Try to challenge yourself with each drawing. If you'd like, you can mention how the drawing you did was a new challenge for you!
4. When you are done with your drawing for the day, post it in this thread.
5. Feel free to share your Inktober drawing list with everyone, I'll be posting mine below! If you don't have a list to follow and just want to go with the flow, you do you!

If you are not a participant, still, feel free to comment on this thread and give feedback/praise to the art posted here!

Exceptions:
- If you have an emergency, a busy day, something suddenly comes up, whatever, and you can't do your drawing for the day, that's fine! Don't feel pressured to do a drawing if you find yourself not being able to complete it for whatever reason. However, if you do get at least a bit done you can share that with us.
- If you need to drop out for any reason send me a PM so I can remove you from the participation list.

Prompt is "something you love/hate"
I have a love hate relationship with watercolour. The watercolour brushes section was something I've been avoiding so naturally it was the only ones I used today. Trying to recreate its characteristics on a digital medium without experience of it in real life was tough.
Goal
- have a better understanding of digital watercolour brush (procreate) behaviour - achieved.
- a water colour "look" - failed
Something you Love/Hatehave a better understanding of something i like but don't like to do

these are great so far! I've been busy all day so I'm prob gonna get started on my prompt within the next hour or so.

Here’s my inktober day 1:
20544C3B-5813-4A4B-B7DB-31F02DDEA39F.png

I tried to make it look like iridescent rainbow with a spider theme I used liquify and Gaussian blur. I’m doing this with a friend and we each picked 15 ideas and put them in a random wheel picker so I don’t really know what I’m going to be drawing tomorrow yet.
edit: just want to add that my overall goal is to just manage to do one every day without getting burned out so I just want to have fun and experiment with colors and textures and not over extend myself. I’m also hoping this exercise will help me be a little cleaner in my art.

basically my goal too, I've been wildly inconsistent with my art and I wanted an excuse to draw everyday and improve my skills while also making some much needed art for my OCs.

don't feel pressured to reach a certain standard, I want you guys to have fun with this! :)

I didn't really have much time today, but I did a little drawing! It's super simple, but my goal is just to get into the habit of drawing again. Can Inktober rekindle my artistic hobby's flame after such horribly long neglect?

My favorite pokémon! because I always seem to draw it awkwardly and need some extra practice at it. It turned out better than usual. 😅

Hopefully I have more time one of these days to commit to a more detailed drawing!

Prompt is "line" also, with inktober's "suit" as the subject.
The idea was using different lines to portray different kinds of suits. Like regular suits are basically straight lines crisscrossing. Space suit lines are bubbly, round, curvy. A suit of armour's lines are rigid and controlled. And birthday suit (human form) uses very fluid lines.

Is it too late to sign up? I could get a drawing tablet shipped in, but it will take some time... like a week or more.
if it will take you a week to get it then it might be a bit too late. however if youd like to work on traditional drawing in the meantime then absolutely.

in case anyone is wondering why I haven't posted any art, I'm working on a commission for Shellzilla and he's requested that I don't publicly share it. I'll be back tomorrow with a drawing of Toby!

Day 2!
IMG_20211002_2158202.jpg

I got on a call with someone while I drew this, and I was able to sit through the experience of drawing pretty well. I don't know why it's much easier to draw while listening to someone. Maybe this is part of the reason I stopped drawing after leaving school. >>;

Baby got fussy and I needed to wrap it up, so not knowing what to do with the empty space on the dress, I awkwardly put lace all the way down to the preexisting line. There was definitely something better I could have done, but I wasn't about to spend the time thinking about it. I should have at least drawn some additional stripes down the chest. ><;

I finally finished the commission, omg that was a big undertaking! I'm honestly surprised I finished it in only two days! I'm gonna push my day 3 prompt to tomorrow since it's getting late here, then hopefully I'll be back on track!

all these drawings are really lovely so far! 😄😄

Day 3!

IMG_20211003_2038142.jpg

Santa Clause and my best friend + me as high schoolers! I don't remember how I used to color people in with pen back then because I definitely ended up putting very prominent lines all up through her face. x-x Oh, how I've been spoiled with colored pencils these past years! Super quick doodles because I had a very busy day today. This might be common quality this month.

Edit: I JUST REMEMBERED!! I liked using fine pointed pens to draw back in highschool. I'm going to try soft shading with a pen again when I have time!
