Mysteries of "the void"

I have a question about void etiquette I guess, I did a search but didn't quite see what I wanted. So, I have only lost 2 villagers so far, to the void it looks like. Should I let people I will interact with know? And if so for how long? They may be gone already because when the first left I picked another up from street pass the same week and the second someone wanted and visited my town after with the hope of randomly picking it up but for future reference how do you handle voided villagers? I would hate for someone to be upset with me for springing an unwanted villager on them but it also seems something we don't have a lot of control over. So if you are trading/visiting/ hosting right after a villager is voided do you tell everyone first? Maybe add it to your signature? If the villager is really horrible invite someone you don't like over, mwahaha :p

I think it's like the cold virus. The only way to ensure you don't pass it on is to shut down your wi-fi, don't visit or trade and become a recluse. Voided villagers are part of the challenge of the game, and to be honest it's a coin toss. Sometimes you get a dreamie and sometimes you get a dud.
I'm appalled to read that someone blamed another person because a voided villager that "may" have hitchhiked onto her visit showed up in his town. That's the way the Devs wrote the game, so that villagers could be cycled through many different players.
Can you imagine if the villagers were like the zodiac or 7/11 set? If only Japan could get Kabuki for example, and he'd only be available on certain game cartridges. The trading forums would go mad and people would be bankrupting themselves to buy their dreamies.
I like finding new personalities, I'm glad that I get the chance to interact and see new villagers. Yes they can be inconvinient -esp when they wipe out your blue violets..*cough* pashmina *cough* - but I'll take that over the alternative anyday.

I never built a campsite and I've never bothered with adopting villagers (except in one case when I took in Kitty from someone to replace my resident snooty that had moved out). All my tenth villagers come from the void. Pango was the most recent one and I'm still confused about that. This is complicated, bear with me.

I had ten villagers at the time. Opal asked to move out so I said yes.
I decided I would let my game go to eight and get a true random move-in. So, to stop anything sneaking into my voided movepool, I stopped doing wifi stuff.
When Opal went into boxes, I had not connected with anyone over wifi for a week, and my last streetpass received had been four days previously.
I let Opal go to the void, leaving me with nine villagers.
The day after, I opened the game, and went over to Opal's vacated plot to plant a tree... and I found a plot for Pango in Opal's spot.

Pango subsequently told me she was from the town of the guy I'd picked up on streetpass four days previously.

So, I was AT ten villagers when I picked up that streetpass, and she STILL went into my movein pool and apparently waited four days for Opal to go before she moved in.
I did not think that was possible, but there you go. Apparently when you have ten, and one's moving out, you can still pickup streetpass villagers--they wait!

Interesting :) I like letting things happen randomly myself, too. Just being new to the game and the forum, I wanted to make sure I was not doing the wrong thing :)

It's funny, I had Flurry from the void from Westeros with the Game of Thrones tune. MAYBE IT WAS THE SAME PERSON, but probably not because it's so common

If a villager came from the void of someone else's town, they will tell you what town they came from when you go to introduce yourself when they are in boxes... And often times they will bring up that town's tune. But that is how you know.

I've gotten a fair share of voids in my old town... and now that I have a cycle town and a new town, I try to be extra careful with trying not to get voids. So far the 10 villager reset is working well for me? But I normally wait to do any between town trades until after someone has adopted a villager from the cycle town. XP

I have noticed in my old town that I got voids when they voided the villager and came to my town rather than when I went to their town.
Maybe there is just a higher chance rate if they visit rather than if you visit? Idk.
But if I only have 9 villagers, I rather trade in their town to hopefully not get a voided villager. XP
