I'm looking for a little help, because I'm very new to this forum.
I've seen a lot of people with all of their dreamies in their sig,
and I'm baffled as to how people got them all.
So I'm wondering; do people just approach you to give you
your dreamies, just to be nice? Or do you have to *compete*
with everyone in raffles and trade threads.
I'm asking, because I have really awful anxiety, and it's hard
for me to compete with other people and speak up when
someone has a dreamie I want.

xoxoxo

I often look at people's signatures and see if they want any villagers I have that I personally don't want, and a few people have done that for me.
Other than that I usually lurk around the Villager Trading Plaza thread to hunt down my dreamies.
I get fairly nervous too, but my fear goes away when I have the chance of getting my dream villager.

I was approached for katt and ruby. people are especially giving when youre close to getting your last dreamie. even if youre not actually planning to bid, try posting in auctions like "aw dang not enough money to bid" bc it seems every time I posted like that people asked me if I still wanted them and that I could have theirs for free.

though I never actually did this on purpose, I just noticed the pattern after achieving all my dreamies.

It's more economics if anything. You find out a villager's forum worth, and go seeking for them on the Villager Trading Plaza. If someone's giving a villager away, you do have to speak up and ask if you may have said dreamie. You can also post in the Looking For Thread stickied at the top of the Villager Trading Plaza and hope someone comes to you! More often than not to achieve all of your dreamies you're going to have to spend big bells :/ I'm starting a cycling thread soon though, and I'll keep you in mind if I see any of the villagers in your sig :)

It varies. There is a thread where you can tell who you are looking after, or if you have yourself a villager that you are willing to give/sell/auction. It doesn't guarantee you that someone will personally contact you to give you your dreamie, or propose you an offer, but it doesn't hurt to post there time to time, because who knows. It's better to combine with checking sometimes threads in this forum, if you don't want to TT and all this complicated stuff to try to get yourself your villagers by campsite random luck, I'm afraid you don't have other choice that give a few shots, in some auction, raffle, and co. Most of people here are really nice, I know how it can be hard and embarrassing to manifest yourself, but if they are the ones to propose villagers you want, then it means that you don't have to feel uneasy to talk to them about that. As to "compete" with others, well, it's a part of the "dreamie game", if you desire to take a part of it. Sometimes, people get big mouth if losing an auction or someone is too fast to take a buyout/selling (though I didn't see yet personally in threads I looked at), but you can't do much about that but ignore it, it's common non-sense of contrariety.
Good luck to find your dreamies ~

Usually, tier 1/2/3 villagers are received through threads in the villager trading plaza.
Tier 4/5s are mainly gotten by approaching/being approached by people through PM.

I bought two of my dreamies (Avery, Carmen), the rest I traded for other villagers (Tia, Merengue, Marshal, Ankha, Drago) or got from camp (Julian) or started with or got from a random move-in at the beginning (Ribbot and Phoebe).

Unless all of your dream villagers are ultra popular on TBT, it's not crazy hard to sometimes find them being given away. I've had great luck with trading villagers and adopting from some of the nice folks on these forums.

Welcome to the forums!

You can go about it several different ways. You can post in the Official Looking For thread in trading plaza. If you post frequently enough, people will take notice. Lots of people check the posts there first or even PM posters individually if they see that someone is looking for said villager. So others can approach you, but you should take the first few steps. The fact that you have a nice signature with all your dreamies is already a good step!

That being said, there are lots of nice people who will give away villagers. There are many cycling threads in the plaza dedicated to just that. You can lurk there, and some people take reservations. It usually depends on how fast you are at this point, which might be a little scary. Popular villagers (like Fauna) will most likely end up in raffles or trades. If it would help, maybe have someone else help with raffles/trades? I know that some people look for villagers for friends, so maybe you can have some enter on behalf of you? Some raffles may not allow this, though.

I'm no stranger to social anxiety, so I understand how hard it can be to put yourself out there. Remember that nothing bad will happen. The worst outcome is that you won't get a dreamy, but if you do win, know that you're just as deserving as any other person, and person giving away the villager wants that villager to find a good home. Take it slowly, and I'm sure that you'll be able to get your dreamies. :]

If you're worried about interacting with other people, I'd recommend campsite resetting. It's time consuming, but worth it, and you won't have to pay a bell. ^^

Clay, Merengue, and Biff were starters
Rory and Tucker were given to me
Bertha I got from a trade
Mira, Stitches, Amelia, Eugene and Phoebe were from Plot resetting.
Hopper, Hans, Drago, Lucky, and Octavian were from the campsite
Julian and Ankha were from auctions
Anabelle was a random move in

I have pretty much gotten one from each of the main methods.

Tammi is all that is left.

I got most of my villagers from either the campsite or from plot-resetting. Two of them I got from a very kind user here on this forum.
