So, I noticed how picky I am with my dreamies in terms of originality. It pains me to see them in ugly shirts (the custom default duck shirt!) and when they change their interior. This leads to my problem that I turn down requests, like when they ask me to bring them new furniture or a delivery for them xD
When I have random ?meh? villagers I shower them in new furniture because I don?t care xD I fulfill all the requests no matter what it is. Here, have this common butterfly! Oh you want new furniture? Have this piece I randomly carry with me. It doesn?t fit your interior at all, but who cares! :D It?s less stressful in a way.
Now I?m so torn between getting villagers I like and random villagers.
Soon I have a spot for a jock villager and I?m really not sure if I should try to get Rudy, who I adore, or just a random villager who doesn?t appeal as much to me.

Does anyone have similar struggles? :0

Put umbrella patterns where the default shirts are in the store, then they will not be able to wear those shirts anymore.
It wont stop them from trading shirts and such, but it stops the plague of the ducky tees and the defaults.

Amazing advice, I’ll do that!!

Also, it annoys me, that when you tell Isabel you don’t like a villagers shirt instead of the villager wearing their original shirt they start wearing an ugly white shirt. Whyyyy Isabel

I used to hate my villagers wearing those ugly shirts. That's why I filled all the pattern spots at the Able Sisters with my own designs
Mostly dresses because they can't change into those. And then some designs that I wouldn't mind them wearing.

I actually like giving them items to put in their house, I feel like it gives them more personality. As for the default tees... yuck. Annabelle succumbed to the duck shirt plague and Naomi started wearing that white shirt. I need to hurry up and change the designs lol

I actually enjoy fulfilling requests, even for the villagers I love. I don't just give them random items, but put some thought into what I think they would like and what would look good in their house. I enjoy seeing them change items and clothing every once in a while because it makes them feel more real to me.

I try to keep a couple of things in my storage for each villager at all times so when they ping me with a request, I don't have to worry about whether the shops have anything appropriate. I've actually liked some of their houses more after they displayed items that I gave them.

I think if you take some of the pressure off of yourself to keep them 100% original, you can still enjoy your dreamies.

For me, when they rearrange their new furniture it just doesn’t look right . Sometimes there’s like a big empty space and another corner is randomly full of things. I wished I could at least decide HOW they rearrange.

What LadyDestani said! I love finding different furniture that looks good with my villagers? houses. Same with the shirts. I guess I?m a biiiiit of a tyrant because I will NOT give them anything I don?t want them to wear or display. Of course, right now I have a PLAGUE of candy gingham shirts... ;-; Not sure where they came from, but they keep sharing this shirt. Lol.

I usually pester my dreamies and reset their dialog options until they ask me for furniture so I can personally choose something for their house. I usually give them things that go with their house and if they have an item I hate I kinda just- force them to give it to me. Like the usual have them invite you over and they hopefully let me choose an item I want so I can just t ake it and return the balance to their home aesthetic

if you mail a villager the same copies of their original shirt (2-5 times or something) theyll definitely change back again. although theres always a risk of them displaying one in their house.. if you tell isabelle you dont like what theyre wearing theyll change it but the shirt they get doesnt look very nice. ive also heard that it might increase their chances of wanting to move out
best thing to do to get them not to wear anything else again is what other people have said here

if a villager asks me to sell them something, or whatever i never do those favours. i have also learned the hard way giving furniture that suits their house may replace something better or just put in a really bad spot

I agree with the ugly shirt struggle. gosh darn it, dobie, not everyone looks good in a sweater vest..

Oh no, I do the same thing. The more I like a villager, the more I try to give them items that would actually look good in their houses instead of random stuff. Or I try to ignore it by not going into my villagers houses often. Or try to buy the odd looking item if they ask me to visit.

I remember giving Sly a bunch of junk because I wanted him to give me cardboard furniture and trees. I made his house look really ugly, then decided I should start giving him cool furniture again.

I don't mind the Abel shirts so much because I make a lot of designs. If my villagers want to join Team Magma that is just a plus for me. lol

I am going to have this problem with Fujimori. I specifically chose the villagers I picked because of their interiors. I guess I'm going to have to keep a cache of reorderables that fit the aesthetic so I can give them away when they ask for stuff.

I'm pretty much the same. This is probably the main reason why I created a second town, going around and making sure that all my villagers were in their original shirts and turning my game off if they weren't was too tiring for me. Now I play in my second town where anyone moves in where they want and wears whatever they want, and I find i'm having so much more fun now that i'm not worrying too much about what my favourite villagers are wearing. Here's a tip though, if you don't want your villagers to change into the default shirts at able's replace all the mannequins with umbrellas. Just a neat lil trick I learned.
