My road tiles get over-written when I save new patterns..

I'm starting to create roads for my town, but whenever I save new tiles my old work gets replaced. Is this supposed to happen?

Is the only way to create new characters for every set of 10 unique tiles in my village?
 
It's quite a problem for those who use paths, yes. People say to make new characters (called 'mules') to have nice paths.
 
Yes, the same thing happens to me. I wish there were more pattern spaces! The paths that have more than ten patterns need two characters if you want to display the whole path, which is unfortunate.
 
My main character has most of my paths since I tend to accidently kick them. I wish all patterns would stay if you saved them at Ables like the town flag, cutout sign, and museum posters do.

I also wish they stayed on when you saved them at Able's like for custom design signs.
I also wish only characters who have the pattern could remove them. I have when I accidently remove one and and have to load on another character to put it back. -_-
 
I wish that there was more space to hold patterns on hand, or so that when you save them at the Able Sisters they don't get overwritten.
 
I remember the first time I was landscaping and I replaced all 10 patterns randomly... It was a mess.
 
i REALLY wish that didn't happen
but at the same time its kinda good cause
if you want to replace your path set with another just gotta replace the patterns and it fixes itself
