my LoZ fear...

OOT and Wind Waker have the Shadow Temple and Earth Temple so I'm not sure you'll be comfortable playing these games.

Honestly not sure what else you could play...

Lol, I modded my Skyrim game to replace the regular moon with this one. No regrets. Majora's Mask moon 5eva.

Well one thing the other zelda games are way harder then botw, for me botw is the most easy zelda game. And botw is a way completely a different zelda game btw and it isn't really have a good story in botw and so it doesn't feel like the real zelda games.
But I say maybe A Link between worlds is a good start or Wind Waker, and Toon Link games are a good start for you.

I agree with this. A Link Between Worlds was very good and cute and relatively quick. It wasn't super duper spooky. If you've got the SNES classic, try A Link to the Past. It's pretty cute as well. Too cartooney to be super spooky.

The moon is a nice misunderstood guy who just wants a friend

But I'll also go with what a lot of people here have already said and say to give Link Between Worlds a try. You should also be able to find the game for a decently low price which helps too.
Wind Waker would start off mostly fine, but the Redeads really gave me nightmares as a kid. Those things are freaky, and whenever I'd go through the Earth Temple, I'd invite a friend over and we would pass the controller back and forth every few minutes and try to get through it together :p And then years later Nintendo remade them in beautiful HD yay

Majora's Mask comments gave me a good chuckle. But yeah, A Link Between Worlds seems like a more realistic option since you have the console, I completely forget about that one because I haven't played it. It seems really good though, and it was met with excellent reception so I'd say it's a solid choice.

I really do hope you give BotW another chance though! It's funny, this thread actually reminded me of another user who experienced the same problem with Zelda games, BotW in particular. I wish the forums allowed you to tag users but her username is Luna Moonbug. Maybe she'll see this thread, I think you two seem to have a lot in common when it comes to gaming. If you check out the BotW thread (it's maybe a bit down the page or even on page 2) you'll see her progress with the game and after persevering she's totally mastered it and very comfortable with it now. It made me so happy to see that lol. I think you can definitely do the same once it starts to feel more familiar to you! That thread in general has a lot of great discussion about the game if you like to go in prepared too.

There's already been great tips dropped here, like completing the Zora story arc first (you can't miss it, the game does gently push you towards it), having an extra life to toy around with should put your mind at ease, I hope. Being able to warp at any moment, even during combat, is a huge plus too. If you feel you're in over your head or something spooks you, you can pretty much leave at any time, so that's cool as well!

I have the same issue with LoZ boss fights. In OOT I could beat the Deku Tree Boss just fine. But After that and other LoZ titles I could never have the guts to face off with the boss fights. Its too nerve wracking for me and I can't do it. Its too stressful for me so that's why Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and The Sims 4 are more suitable for me.

Omg reading those puns have made my day so much better!
I have definitely come across the guardian before and it took me quite a while to realise that it?s easier to just run away than fight it.
I guess you?re right about making the enemies looking stupid, just need to tell myself that bobolokins are manic pigs instead.
usually I do just skip to day time whenever it turns to night but hopefully the more I play the less scared I?ll become, especially if I am just riding around on a horse and running away from everything (the horse over the cliff thing has only happened once I promise)

Are you talking about those super creepy things at the end of the shadow temple? I took one look and was like NOPE
