I hope someone can help me out here, but I was playing acnl and I?m worried that my game got corrupted somehow.
I was plot resetting(which I know increases the risk of corruption, and is my own dumb mistake) and everything was going fine. I went around town for a bit and did my usual mayor things. I went in my main house and as I left my game has been stuck on the loading screen with the little train for a very long time.
It is a cartridge game by the way.

I don?t know what to do, should I shut it off? Should I wait it out?

I?m just really afraid because this town is coming together really well and I don?t want to lose everything, and the cartridge to be ruined.

If someone could help me out that would great and I would appreciate it.

So quick edit: I tried going to the home screen on my 3DS and I can't get to the home screen.

I'm not sure I can help you because I don't play on cartridge, but how long has your screen been loading? Maybe you could wait it out? I'm not sure pushing the power button would fix it.

And plot resetting won't corrupt your save file. Animal Crossing has a feature that only activates when you reset (Resetti) so the possibility of corrupting your file by doing something that can be considered part of the gameplay doesn't seem very logical.

How long has it been loading? You could probably wait it out. Leave it plugged in with a charger and go do something else for an hour or so.

It has been like this for hours. I tried hitting the home button on my 3DS and nothing happen. The ACNL loading screen is still there. Should I just turn the system off completely?

I guess that is the only thing you can do. Hopefully it'll be fine considering it's just the loading screen and not the saving screen ("do not turn off the power blah blah blah...").

i recommend you thrn off the console completely, and see what happens when you load up new leaf again.

i wish you luck!

Okay, thank you so much! Hopefully everything will be fine and it is just a glitch? Maybe??
Thank you very much for your help!

Thank you, everyone for your help!!
I shut off the system and turned my game back on and everything was fine.

Glad to hear it worked out okay. Plot resetting won't corrupt your game so I would think it was just having a moment of playing up. I use a cartridge and have issues from time to time, just shut the ds off and on again and it seems to sort itself. The only time I wouldn't shut it off would be if it was in the middle of saving

To my knowledge, plot resetting does not increase chances of corrupting your game. If anything it's probably just not good for your home button, lol. Mine is barely functional.

I had to buy a new 3ds because I broke my old 3ds's home button after over two years of plot resetting to get everyone in place in Bluebell. Its one of the reasons I was pretty lax about plot resetting in Igmot.

well, the reason that it wont go to the homescreen is because it isnt safe to close the game then.
Turn it off and hope that you're lucky.

It's possible that the game cartridge and/or the game slot in your system have some dust or debris, and trying to clean them out may help (this has happened to me before), so just blowing on them or canned air will do the trick.

Nintendo's been training for me for this sort of problem since I was five, lol.
