i took snapshots of where they were, so it's ok :3
Use it to your advantage, too, especially if you have to dig up a bunch of flowers. Instead of backfilling, just save and quit, then go back in.
That's going to put a crimp on my graveyard plans a little. Good to know though!
If your graveyard is on the second or third tier, you could terraform the holes you want by digging into the cliff, leaving the hole, and filling back in to where you started, if that makes sense? It'll take a bit of planning and effort, but it's an idea.
