I'm so sorry that it cracked, and I hope you could find a way to repair it . Also, ignore everyone insulting your finger; they are just being insensitive.

But for the 3DS I would transfer it to the other DS, and maybe see if Back-ups could be transferred. Anyway, good luck! I hope for all the best!

It's all scratched up. It probably cracked because you treat it roughly. My DS is 10 years old and it still looks new.

Yeah, sorry to say but thats a common problem with most DS models. It doesn't happen with 3DS'.

So, sorry but your DS is going to break at some point. My Limited edition mario DS model was broken because of the same problem. You have 2 options:

1) Buy a new DS (recommended)
2) Pay someone to repair it

Just curious, does it make it harder to close/the top piece won't stay stiff? I'm a bit experienced with this problem.

The broken 3DS XL's right hinge shouldn't be considered as an isolated case. I've seen quite a significant amount of that from happening over the Internet, although maybe not nearly as much as the White DS Lite did. Of all the 3 3DS XL models I've owned, two of them suffered that very same issue. One of which seems to be slightly detached from the hardware and does an obnoxiously loud sound when opening/closing it, while the other has a barely visible crack that seems to form even after 7 months of use.

At this point, your current hardware is no longer covered under its one year warranty. Therefore, repairing your system might cost nearly as much as getting another 3DS XL hardware, if not more expensive. It isn't a bad idea to upgrade to New 3DS XL. Not only it does boast some extra features, but the hinges are supposedly considerably improved over the older XL variation, as I haven't heard any stories of broken hinges for that matter.
