My Beau dilemma...

I have both Erik and Beau and they act like twins. I’m personally more attached to Erik because he’s my birthday buddy, and I feel Erik does much more DIYs than Beau. So I was waiting for Beau to leave. Until today he gave me a philosophical conversation that changed my mind. I heard online other people’s Beau also had this conversation. I’m not sure if the dialogues are restricted to Beau (i doubt) or any lazy villagers can potentially say this, but it definitely made me re-evaluate Beau.

Beau had the same conversation with me and it cracked me up

I had both Beau and Erik in NL and I decided to only bring one back to my island this time, and my choice was Beau. I definitely feel how different the lazy personality is, but I still love him the same as I did. His little sleepy eyes and how he's always examining the flowers or sitting by trees is just... 🥺but if you don't feel as attached to him as you used to be, don't be afraid to let him go. Maybe this is an opportunity to meet someone new you'll fall in love with!

(I think Beau falls on the lazy subtype where they're not obsessed with bugs and instead talk about food all the time, which is probably why I enjoy him lol)

Yeah. Lazys are different. Its weird because ive never had prince before and he was my first lazy in NH and i loved him, but when i got bob, who ive had in every game and have loved for so long, the super-childish diologue of the new lazies didnt fit with how i had seen him for so many years.

I am going through something similar with Wolfgang.
He was my NL starter and became my permanent resident there.
When I found him on a mystery Island, I was super excited at first... but I have another cranky, Boyd, who is growing on me so much (even though he's not popular at all).
I just wish I had Wolfgang's amiibo card though.
I was looking for chief myself and found Wolfgang on an island and I love his aesthetic so I snapped him up. I really love him now even though he’s only been here a few days. He’s already BFFs with Filbert and Audie ;w;

No beau is definitely the bug subtype 😂 he is a nature lazy vs a play lazy. He talks about the bugs constantly lol

awe i feel you! i have beau on my island along with sherb and cranston, and they are all lazies, but lazy villagers i adore and they're all my babies so i do not wanna let them go (especially cranston i can't live without him on my island)

since WW, dotty had always been my favorite, until cranston moved into my new leaf town and he took her spot as my favorite villager. now i just don't like dotty the same anymore :(

For me personally, I feel like it's better to have different villagers in NH than I did in NL.

The way the personalities are written, most are completely different in NH than other games. Beau in this game is a different Beau than NL. And the friendship level and the way you feel about that character is going to be different depending on how long you've had in him your village in NL verses NH.

Maybe let him go if he asks. I'm sure that there would be other people out there who would love to have him on their island. Then you can have the opportunity to perhaps find a completely different villager that you didn't know you needed on your island. But who knows; perhaps you'll fall in love with him before he asks to move away. Just keep in mind, it's not the exact same Beau, just as your island representative isn't the -exact- same person as your mayor in NL, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. It's just different.

I felt this with Diana for a bit. She was my absolute favorite villager in New Leaf and I knew I needed her on my island. I brought her in with an Amiibo and she just felt different. I let her go and tried to find others and ended up bringing her back. I realized that my island just didn't feel complete without her. Lazies are definitely not as good as they were in New Leaf. I had Erik in this game at first and was not happy with him because he was so different so I didn't even bother bringing Beau into my island. I think I like Sherb as my lazy so much because he's a new villager I didn't have expectations for.

I don't know, I previously had Drake who's a play lazy and he talked about bugs all the time, Beau on the other hand won't stop asking me about my favorite snack and how he likes to eat/cook. I don't believe interests affect dialogue.

I feel exactly the same. On one side it makes me really sad, but on the other side it allows me to discover new characters I would have never allowed on my island before. I would have gotten stuck with Beau, Bruce, Bam, Erik and Filbert forever, but thanks to NH I've met Winnie and Bea <3

Same thing happened to me with Sprinkle. I have her in my NL town and she has been there for years almost, but i kinda dont want her in my island. I decided i am gonna let her go and try to find out what other peppy i might like. I can check on her in my NL town when i miss her and i have Beau there too so i decided to get a new lazy, Drift. I preferred lazy villagers in NL more anyway and i dont want to ruin Beau for myself.

The dialogue in this game is pretty stale/flanderized compared to the earlier titles; Genji in NH is a lobotomized version of himself (still luh him tho). Hopefully they adjust it in future updates because this is something a lot of people have noticed & I feel it takes away from the original point of the game
