The charging port had been wonky for a while, only working if the charger was in the right position but I dealt with it and thought nothing of it until it stopped working entirely. I tried every charger I could, but none worked no matter how long I fiddled with it. Since my 3DS was out of battery, I can no longer functionally use it. Meaning the 488 hours I spent working on my town are now down the drain. I had just started doing the paths, clearing out closets, and paying off loans. I can't get a replacement since its a "Refurbished" one from Gamestop and my family barely has enough money to buy Nerf blasters or Lego sets every now and then, it would be near impossible to for them to replace a $100+ game console. Hell, they complain about me playing too many games so they might not replace it even if they had the money to do so. I'm just so upset and mad, hopefully you'll understand my woes.

Do you have a physical copy or a digital copy of the game?
Is it because your battery stopped working or something?
Get it checked first.

I'm very sorry to hear this. But by any chance, do any of your friends have a 3DS? If so, you could ask them to use it and then your town wouldn't be gone, since 3DS games save to the cartridge.

Physical, most likely the connector since the prongs are bent and the connector is physically tilted to one side.

Unfortunately no, none of my friends have a 3DS :(

Try replacing your charger?

All 4 of my friend's chargers and my own charger didn't work, I'm pretty sure it's the system.

I had the same exact problem.
The only solution is to send it in (If you still have the warranty on it) or find one of those charging decks somewhere out there.

Well then I don't see how your town is "lost forever".
Send it in and get the battery cartridge checked.

WAIT A MINUTE! Your right! The charging deck! I have that around here somewhere!

Ninja edit: Not so much yays.... still won't charge :(

If it's still under warranty, send it to Nintendo

Still assuming you have a warranty or you/your parents could try Nintendo's Support Line. They're usually understanding and tend to waive fees for some repairs, can always try your luck!
