I am really mad right now. My 3DS just broke while I was playing ACNL for a while. I flipped back the lid, to it's normal angle then my 3DS turns off. I turn it on again with the lid flipped back and the light turns on, it makes a popping/ticking noise then turns off. I try again several more times but no luck. I did research a bit on the internet and tried turning on the 3DS when the lid is at less than a right angle. This time it turns on. I can't live with the 3DS just half open though. I don't want to take my 3DS apart or send it to Nintendo for an expensive repair. I guess I'm getting the new 3DS when it's out :l If any of y'all know a quick fix to this or have had the same problem let me know.

Welcome to my world. Not having a 3DS sucks, I hope you get one for Christmas if ya celebrate it.

Sorry to hear this :(

This happened to my original 3DS and I found out that the problem is with the ribbon cable which is located above the LCD on the upper screen. To repair this yourself is quite difficult and expensive so the better option would be to get a new console or get it repaired ( Although if you are in the UK the repair center is down atm as they had a fire in they're repair warehouse..)

well i guess you could buy a new 3DS (errrr... i mean the current 3ds model). They're pretty cheap now a days.

Also you can still use the 3DS still right? At least you'll be able to transfer data and didn't lose any saves?

The only things you could do would be to send it to Nintendo or take it apart, sorry.

get a 2ds. pretty sure gamestop would take the broken 3ds and give you credit for it. but that's what I would do if I were you. =p

Brother did the same to his, you're gonna have to get a new 3DS (not the new 3ds as in the model) or a 2DS, or get it repaired. The repair for this requires taking it apart, and you said you didn't wanna do that.

same

WARNING: Taking it apart DOES NOT fix it AT ALL. I'll show you:

I know some websites sell them secondhand, you could always get one there until the new one arrives. :)
