Museum or Sell?

When you catch rare bugs and fish or find fossils, do you donate them to the museum? Or do you sell them?

I donate everything the first time I find it, but after that, Blathers won't take them, so I sell everything from then on. But my friends instantly sell EVERYTHING and have nothing in their museum.

Sometimes, however, I skip the museum if I really need money. Obviously, it's not much of a problem anymore, because a lot of stuff has already made it into the museum, but it used to be a bit of an issue. ;u;

I donate to the museum first, then sell, even if I need bells. Otherwise, I know I'll end up forgetting or get things mixed up.

I always donate the first ones. It's just easier to keep track of what I have or haven't donated that way. Because the first time you catch it, you get the dialogue box that says "I wonder what my encyclopedia says" so I know that it's not in the museum when that comes up. I only donate with my main character too so I don't get confused. It's just easier for me than running to check the board to see if I've donated something, lol. Maybe if that board were in alphabetical order...

I donate fossils since I'm already at the museum, but everything else depends on whether I feel like making the trip to the museum or not.

Also anubias are one of my favorite plants.

When I start the game I sell fossils/bugs/fish to make money. But now that I have like 50mil I don't need to make 10k off of fossils anymore so I donate

I found out I was missing an oak silk moth that way. Very common bug on the island, and I forgot to donate it the first time and so didn't have it until I cross-checked that list.

Yeah, I always donate first. "First time you caught..." is a reminder that I have to donate it because otherwise I'll forget what I have donated and haven't and need to. But after that, of course I sell. There's no other use for it and they're worth so much too.
