My museum is complete, but some sections just don’t feel quite “complete“ yet to me. For example, the Big River exhibit feels pretty barren. The Abyss used to look just as empty before the July update, but when deep sea creatures were added, it made sense. Deep sea creatures were always going to be part of that exhibit, but we just didn’t know it yet. So with that in mind, I started looking for other possible “not finished” finished exhibits.

Does anyone else think that it’s odd that there is an empty cage (below the fleas) in the lab section of the bug exhibit? Or that the lab itself (with its tiny Easter egg picture of Nat) could be a hint at a future added purpose? Or that the Coral Reef exhibit could house more fish species on the left side of the exhibit? There is a conspicuous space left for a potential sign there.

All of that said, I’m predicting future additions to the Critterpedia, possibly related to Tortimer’s Island. Maybe another 20 each of fish and bugs and 10 more deep sea creatures, bringing the total to a neat 100, 100, and 50 respectively?

All just spitballing of course! We know with data mining that the museum will be upgraded again, but to what extent? What are all of y’all’s conspiracy-theory-filled predictions for the museum?

Maybe they will bring the net fishing from pocket camp? I vaguely remember that being a bit more of a pay to win mechanism but they could use it for new creatures.

I just really want Brewster’s Cafe back (in the Museum, where he belongs!!!) and maybe a gift shop of some kind selling rare items,
I think there was data mining for a new building that could be like New leaf cafe. Maybe our man Brewster has franchises and we can get both.

Omg that would be so cute! I wonder if Brewster has any kids who could run it for him...

I want a gyroid exhibit, an observatory, and an exhibition space that we can decorate however we like.
Ooh yeah I remember the exhibition rooms in NL were so good.... More like storage rooms for me in NH cause I keep hoarding.

I miss the gyroids!

Seeing how an extra part in the museum in both City Folk and New Leaf were created for Celeste, this data mined upgrade probably has something to do with that. If that is the case, it may not necessarily remove Celeste from doing what she already does in New Horizons. It would probably give her an extra role like how there is now Gullivar, and his alter ego, Gullivarrr.

The custom exhibit spaces from NL, for sure. I always liked to use them to display hybrids, gyroid exhibits, and villager portraits!

I think your observations are very insightful, and we can only hope! I think even adding a new room to fish/bugs wouldn't be *too* much work in the grand scheme of our suspected updates. Adding new fish and bugs wouldn't be too much work(a model, an animation, a joke, a critterpedia entry, Blathers's dialogue, and a schedule/rarity). It could be an easy way to bring people back in years 2 and 3 - "come check out new Spring bugs!"
Art and fossils would be even less work than critters c:

I also deeply miss the observatory from WW. I know a lot of people do. It doesn't seem likely, but ya never know. Several visiting NPCs in NL and at least one do far in NH move to permanent buildings. She could always go wander outside during meteor showers.

I'd really like a geological update with the old obtainable gems (and some new ones)...as well as "relics" (think Stardew Valley).
I've been wanting "relics" too - we're missing a lot of history in the museum. The art skews much more towards "fine art" paintings and sculptures, which are history in their own right, but idk, show me some objects and antiquities. More along the lines of the dogu or terracotta warrior.
