Museum 2nd floor - Am I doing something wrong?

Hey you guys. So, I'm in a bit of a pickle.

I've been working very hard to donate items to my museum, wether it be fossils, bugs, paintings, etc. and I totaled the amount of items I have in there, and its 30. Aren't you supposed to get the second floor of the museum after you hit 20 items? On one day I donated over 10 items, and it brought me over twenty, but I did it all in one day. Does this affect my chances of Blathers talking to me about the PWP? Or do I have to wait a certain amount of time after donating 20 items for him to talk to me? I am confused and flustered, and I really want to get the second floor so I can eventually get the cafe.

It doesn't come automatically, it should take 1-2 AC days and when you see blathers he'll have a though bubble over his head.

Hm. It's been at least two days in real time, so that's why I'm wondering, I guess. (ง •̀ゝ•́)ง Meh, oh well. I just have to wait on Blathers I guess ;-; Thanks for the help!

yeah, you definitely gotta wait a bit. I donated a lot of stuff quickly myself, but it took a while to get him to say anything about it. it was annoying in my case, 'cause I really needed the museum rooms. ;__;

you have to have at least one item in every category as well.

And I'm pretty sure you have to talk to him every day at least once, even if you have nothing to donate.

Umm, I read on the wiki when i started out (German though, so not sure you'd like the link) that you need to live in the city for 14 days, been donating 20+ items and at least one of each category

I've seen a few places mentioning its 21 days.

Make sure you have at least one item donated in every section of the museum and then just talk to him everyday for 14 days. After that he should eventually mention it.

Talk to him on 14 different days, even if you have nothing to donate. That seems to clear the problem up.

I just started another new town and got it on Day 15. I had a lot of fish/ diving, artwork, bugs and fossils donated.
Not sure if the first day counts since you can't take a sit in the mayor chair. Or the game was making me wait.
