So does anyone here watch Murder, She Wrote? I've been watching it on Netflix for the last year or so and it's become one of my favorite shows. It's pretty cheesy but makes me really happy and relaxed.

Anyhoo - I just got a second copy of New Leaf and decided make a Murder, She Wrote themed town! It's called CabotCov (wish I could fit the whole Cabot Cove but it works) and my mayor is Jessica...

I'd love to hear any comments, thoughts, ideas that anybody has! hopefully I'm not the only person who knows this show!

I LOVED that show and watched its premier when I was in college on an old black and white bunny-ear antenna tv. Yeah...that was a while ago! But my thoughts are the first few notes of the theme song, try to pick some characters that are like the sheriff and the doctor she is close friends with. I haven't seen it for years, so I forget their names. And maybe have a pc in your house because in one episode she decides she needs to "upgrade" from her old typewriter to a pc and when she asked a nephew what kind she wanted, she smiled and said, "I was thinking...beige?" Lol! I love that you love one of my fave shows and actresses. You ought to watch 1945's "The Harvey Girls" to see her when she was only 19. She was a stunner. And to hear her sing as a beautiful young woman try to find an old clip from the 1940's (I think...) "Picture of Dorian Grey." She sings and her voice isn't dubbed over like they did in "Harvey Girls."

Just thought you may enjoy those moments with our beloved "Jessica." :)

ETA - Oops...it's not a homage to "Murder, She Wrote," per se, but to reflect Angela Lansbury you can also make sure you house has the old fashioned candle-stick (for when she sang in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" and there is that singing candlestick. Also, she LOVES her tea in almost anything, so the tea set should be a must, as well as lacy and cushion-y things. Oh, and maybe the picnic basket for when she is bumming around Cabot Cove?

Oh, and in later years she teaches a crime class...so the classroom/campus set? I don't have all of it myself, but it may be fitting for a room in Jessica's house. Book-like items, class desks and chairs, the whole shebang for a school room. Oh, and there's a black (or white) board that she writes on. You can even have Cyrus put something on it for you - I don't know what, but maybe if you make a custom design for it that is her name or something...

Just more random thoughts. I find your idea imaginative and ambitious. :)

Wonderful ideas! And I'm so glad you responded :p I was starting to feel a little silly! I actually have the town tune figured out it's g,c,e,f,d_,f,e,c_,a,g if anyone's interested. I also have Seth (doctor) and need to decide on which sheriff to have for my other characters. Still a huge WIP but here's Jessica in her kitchen.

I'm way too excited about it! :D

Oh, no, you're not! You're the right amount of excited. :). The kitchen is adorable and I forgot about the typewriter in the game. You are doing great and I've subscribed to your thread. I have to log off very soon, but I'll be back and probably inundate you with all sorts of silly ideas! I can't wait to see how it goes. :)

That's a wonderful idea! Perhaps you could set up one of the houses as the murder scene, with clues pointing to one of the villagers and see if dream visitors can figure out who done it! I'd make that the house of the sheriff so he'd have an excuse to be around and in it. His greeting could be asking about your alibi on the night of the 15th or so.

That's a cute idea! Maybe I'll set up a whodunit! I plan on referencing a couple of my favorite episodes with pwps. The first one is Murder Digs Deep. Jessica is at an archeological dig site that's haunted by a Native American ghost and then someone dies.... Someone go watch that episode so you know what I'm talking about! Hahaha :p

That show runs on the (UK) TV quite a lot, I must say I prefer Poirot lol
I think your idea's awesome, good luck finding the perfect villagers!

Love Murder She Wrote.
Make sure you have a bicycle.

Oh, my! How could I have forgotten the bicycle? Lol! That is a must! And a who-done-it would be fantastic. :)

I also recall that she was in Paris once and got caught up in a mystery and during that mystery there was a side story-line where she kept sneaking into the hotel cook's kitchen trying to figure how the ingredients he put into a sauce she loved. If I recall, correctly, she snuck home a sample to later be analyzed. Lol!

I also enjoyed the episodes where Jessica was absent and that guy who used to be a criminal is now a fraud investigator and took up a few cases. He was a great filler and I remember loving him and the actor who played him did great. I'll have to look him up, but I almost forgot about him. He could also be a character in the village.

Wow...on to do some research and to see if I can find and get the time to rewatch that show. It has always been one of my faves. If Jim Hutton hadn't died it would have been great to have an Ellery Queen meets Jessica Fletcher special.

How about a room or house thats her apartment in new york. You could use the apple tv as a hint to it. I used to watch this show all the time. The coffee pot is perfect!!!!

I also love, love, love poirot.

I loved Ellery Queen also. I have all those shows on DVD. I've got some of the Murder She Wrote too (don't remember which seasons). I love who-done-its. I've always enjoyed playing Clue and reading Agatha Christie novels.
I love all the Columbo's too, but they were more of a "how will Columbo catch them", since you knew who had done it from the beginning. I've got some seasons of Columbo on DVDs also.

I just started watching this show on DVD!

I guess a Typewriter is a given. Catch some Lobsters to represent Maine. In the early opening credits, she jogs in a sweatsuit and rides her bicycle (not sure which refurbishing color matches best).

Oh awesome I'll definitely have to add her NYC apartment!

Some more good ideas! I'll have her change into a sweatsuit occasionally haha!

The show is truly fantastic. She's a such a great role model for both young and old. If you've never seen it, watch it! It's on Netflix.

So I'll try to post my progress occasionally. It'll take a while it get things going, gotta save up some bells! I'm going to cycle for a while to try to earn some. I really appreciate everyone's input and interest!
