Moving villagers out and replacing with a mystery island animal

I do not know if this has been asked before so sorry in advance if it has.
Today Kody asked to move out and I said yes get out. I know he will be in boxes tomorrow, so today can I go to a mystery island and a villager will be there? or is it too early? Or does a mystery island animal only appear when a villager is all moved out in your town?

They only show up when you have an open plot, so in two days you should be able to start island hopping.
