Moving out and getting villagers question

I keep forgetting about the void. I’ll have to remember not to have any visitors in my town when I’m in the middle of a getting a villager. Can the void still happen if I’m visiting that person’s town?

I had only received voids from people visiting me, but I believe you can get voids from visiting a town as well. I did pay for a Francine that never moved in since I had a visitor and Hamphrey came instead... boy was I angry at that hamster... ;v;
A few months later he went away and all was well though. :)

Adding to Feraligatr?s question: Does the void affect you if you have 9 villagers? I would find it really annoying if I could get someone move in randomly just because of trades.....

Yes, the only was of safely doing any online activities is having 10 villagers or 9 and a plot set up and saved. If you have nine you can definitely get a voided villager or a streetpass one, so I simply do not go online at all when I have less than 10 unless it's for adopting the 10th. :)

Thank you so much for crearing that up.! Just to make sure, voided villagers always move in on the first day afterwards so if I don?t see one, I didn?t get any?

Also couldn?t the void be avoided if the last thing you do is adopting a villager from another town? I thought I had heared that the last villager moving in overwrites the ones that were supposed to move in before (in the same day).
In that case, wouldnt it be possible to tt a day ahead, start a new character, check for a voided villager plot, turn off the system and travel a day back to adopt someone and avoid the unwanted villager?

Sorry for all the questions but I feel few people know anything about the specifics of this.
