Hey guys, I'm back from the dead to talk to you. So, here's the thing. I'm trying to get back into playing my old copy of ACNL. I have no doubt in my mind that I'm going to be resetting and starting over fresh, but my problem is my motivation. I know that this is different for everybody, but I'd like to see why you play. Is it just to make your town pretty? To complete it? Interact with people?
I haven't picked up my Nintendo in months and I really miss it. I'll be cleaning out my friends list and whatnot and adding new people, so I'll post a thread over in the Train Station later or something.

Starting new is motivation in itself. I don't know how you think of New Leaf, but it feels like a small daily adventure that I can immerse myself in for a little while at a time.
It's very easy going and you can influence it as you please to suit what makes you happy. Now that I'm a little further in my game I find myself motivated to play it to work on my town and interact with the villagers.

Have fun in your next town ~

i am really on/off with acnl now and sometimes i cannot get myself to play for months. i finished my town a year ago but i started playing again. i think it is more fun when you have a goal you want to reach, whether it be collecting badges or finishing your town, etc. lately i've been finding myself on acnl everyday and i am trying my best to finish my museum.

I find it helpful to set mini goals, even if it's as simple as planting a tree or bush. One of my recent goals was to make a fruit orchard and today I planted the last seed for it to grow. Looking for villagers is also fun. Maybe make the campsite early on so you can check who is camping each day?

Playing online with people is also great. Take advantage of it to go to the island or trade/buy/sell stuff and you'll get to 100 visits in no time. Good luck!

I play to unwind and relax from my daily hectic life. Fishing late at night calms me, especially if I'm not fishing for anything in particular.

I just look at other people playing animal crossing or look at animal crossing screenshots. It usually motivates me to play again because it gives me inspiration for my town and I want to complete it. That personally works for me. usually

I'm trying to collect every badge and item. I also like seeing what's new in my shops every day and I'm trying to get my jock and lazy pwps suggested.

What motivates me to play Animal Crossing is making a beautiful town. I take screenshots around my town for any major goals or just cute scenic locations, and when I look back on them I always get a sense of pride for how far I've come. I love seeing my under-developed areas become something really pretty, and to see how much things have changed. My advice is start taking pictures as you go along. It might motivate you to continue playing and inspire you for any future project you might have in mind. :)

Mainly it's relaxing, but currently I have the mini-goal of getting my golden axe. I'm almost halfway there. That leads to stuff like the gardening badge, and landscaping my towns, and getting my dreamies, and decorating my house, and getting my shops, etc, etc.

Why I play AC:NL ;
It's escaping reality for a moment and relaxing.
It's a temporary relief from the stress of daily life.

Depending on your preferences and what you like to do you can create a back story for your town and villagers and all of that and I think that's pretty awesome.
It's like creating a whole new world that you can physically see and interact with.

I also love taking screenshots and editing them to make them look really nice.
I don't know, I think that's really motivating for me personally. I don't know if that's something you do or care to do.
But it makes me want to make my town really nice so that I can take really nice screenshots and then edit them to make them even more amazing than they were before.

The game just makes me really happy.
Like I said it's a temporary escape and helps me to relax.
It's good to get rid of stress, afterall!
