Play Mother 1 if you enjoy playing old school RPGs. Having to gain experience points before actually starting your adventure and getting ambushed constantly. I didn't play the Mother 1+2, so maybe Mother 1 will have some changes like gaining experience points quicker and less ambushes. Either way, that's what I hated about that game. I played through it because I wanted to be one of those people who can say that I did. I felt it was worth playing through, though. It's kind of sad. EarthBound was enjoyable. You could actually see your enemies rather than being ambushed.

I wouldn't say it was depressing. After Super Smash Bros. Melee, I never bothered to play EarthBound. I gave it a few attempts and then eventually jumped right into it. It's pretty fun. There was something I felt slightly depressed upon thinking about the first time I beat the game. I won't say it, though, because it'd be considered a spoiler.

I've yet to play through Mother 2, but I have completed 1 and 3. I was pretty young when I played, so I cried like a baby at the endings. (lik dis if u cri evrtim)
Whenever I see these threads, I boot up Mother again and was wondering; should I try to finish Mother 2? It seemed really boring, and I was wondering if it ever got good. I got to the first melody.
Maybe I'll try to marathon this series sometime soon.

I'm not particularily fond of RPGs, and as I've mentioned in a previous post, I started and stopped a few times before actually going through with it. Play it through. I think you'll enjoy it.

I've only played EarthBound, since I got on my Wii U today. It's pretty fun!
I have to admit, a few years ago, I went through an obsessive EarthBound phase, even though I never played it. But, now I got a chance too, and it's actually as good as I thought it was going to be.
