All Mother fans rejoice! For those who don't know this already, a group of fans gathered and set to make the dream of a Mother sequel true!

What's so great about this is that the Mother 4 team seems to be doing it right! The graphics, the sounds and everything we've seen so far is just too Mother-ish XD. See for yourself

The game is to be free and was originally to release by the end of 2014, but unfortunate stuff happened and it had to be delayed in order to not end up with a rushed product.
A controversial topic has been whether Nintendo will take a cease and desist action against this game or not. What seems probable though is that it won't since Nintendo has recently announced a Creative Endorsement program. Plus this conversation that went with Itoi himself:
- So let's make MOTHER 4!
Itoi Phew... (laughs) Well, 3 was hard enough to get through.
- But when you were making 2, you had to have had concepts for 3 come to mind, right? So this time, were there any thoughts about 4?
Itoi This time, I'd like to be the player. (laughs)
- There are plenty of games out there that you can be the player for.
Itoi So if someone approached me and said that they'd like to make MOTHER 4, I might just tell them to go for it. (laughs) If there was a MOTHER 4, I'd like to play it.
