What do you think the most overrated game is? After all the ratings and reviews of Super Mario Galaxy 2 came in, I'm starting to think that game was extremely overrated.

was just about to say that.

also, patapon, dear god, patapon.
earthbound/mother is pretty overrated, too, imo.
and, it's probably just me, but I don't understand the craze for/about monster hunter. it's just endless, pointless grinding, yes? an MMORPG without the MM (or O for that matter), am I missing something?

But idz for the wii

playing/played the psp version, monster hunter 2 freedom.

I understand that it's supposed to be hard/very grind-heavy, but what's the point of it? to clear all the missions/upgrade your armor/weapons, x infinite?

Hm, I think Earthbound, I played some of it on an emulator, and I must say, it kinda sucked. However, if they made a remake, I would be interested in playing it.

@Psychonaut You can set whatever goal you want, like in MH3, my goal is to beat Alatreon and get full armor and weapon from him. Then I will probably help other people until a new event comes out for me to do.

you can do that with practically anything.

s' like saying earthbound/<whatever game/thing you wanna insert> is the best because I can set whatever goal I want.

tl;dr, wat.

Minecraft to an extent.

The people at the Minecraft forums lick the dirt that Notch walks on xD

Yeah, now that I think about it, probably that. It is a good game, but it is missing a lot.

@Psychonaut True, but Monster Hunter is basically based around that idea.

from what I've seen/messed around with... it's more or less the same thing as monster hunter... which is, a sandbox game. a highly creative sandbox game, yes, but still a sandbox/do what you want-styled game.

not that this is bad.. I just don't see the point in this kind of a game, when it's all that the game offers.

for instance, I love dicking around in tf2's sandbox maps (<3 mario kart), but that isn't why I got the game. I love hatching eggs and breeding x infinite in pokemon, but the goal of that was to eventually be able to use the result children pokes in either battle tower fights, or player vs player battles. then I learned about shoddy battle. Q.Q

it's just kinda strange, imo, that a game like that thrives so well, when it's more or less... lacking in the game/goal-aspect, by which I mean things that the game tells you to do. but it's a new generation of gaming, I guess. or not. thoughts?

If you play MH3, it has somewhat of an offline story mode. I mean, it isn't just random quests being shot at you.

Oh, and the end of the offline game boss is just plain awesome.

Minecraft, it's really fun for sure, but not super awesome like what some people think.

There are a LOT of overrated games (Ocarina of Time much?), but if I were to list just a few of my personal opinions they would have to be OoT, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Final Fantasy 7 & 8, and more that I really can't think of :\ . While these are good games, they just get so many people obsession over them.
