Missing letters?

I sent Diana a letter with a phonograph, but I haven't got any replies yet(she has the phonograph though). She also didn't write me a letter when I nursed her.
I kept some of her letters on my pockets though. Does this affect her? Or have I reached the peak?

I'm not really sure about this, but I think I've experienced it before. Sometimes the villagers won't write to you, even when you write to them. At times I would write to all of my villagers and give them presents, but only a few of them would send gifts back, so I'm guessing that not getting replies can just happen randomly.

I thought sending a letter would increase the friendship level. I do talk to her frequently though but does that really reduced my friendship level? :c

Or either she knows my letter habits or Pete went into the wrong way on her replies...

No, I think it does increase your friendship whether she replies to you or not, and I'm pretty sure talking does the same. c:

Well, good to know then.
It's just that the relationship between my character and her isn't really tight. Perhaps it's just some bad luck between friendship but who knows.

Some villagers are late in sending replies. I notice this often when I send 6 letters and only get 4 replies the next day. The others arrive 1 or 2 mail deliveries later.

this is true. also they won't reply if they've been over to your house or you've visited theirs that day. instead they'll send you a 'thanks for coming over' gift.

A couple weeks ago I bought 2 fortune cookies but had already gotten the prizes they gave so I decided to send them to villagers. I sent Hans the ? block and Cube got the yoshi egg. Neither of them sent me a letter back. I've seen the ? block displayed in Hans' house but Cube doesn't have his gift displayed.
But last week I sent Merry the cat tower I got from the nintedo zone dlc and she wrote back. She said it was an awesome gift and sent me a candy jar as a thank you. I guess it's random.

I noticed I don't always get replies back either. Maybe they have been late and I haven't paid attention.
